Some clear evidence gun bans won't disarm the people

Given the nature of human society, sensible gun control is essential. The problem being, there are extremists at both ends of the spectrum. On one end there are those who oppose even the most reasonable gun control laws, On the other there are people who seek to ban private gun ownership altogether, hunting, target shooting, competition....anything to do with guns.

Where are these people? I don't think there is a politician anywhere on the planet spouting a "no guns whatsoever" platform. Conversely, it is very, very rare to hear a pro gun advocate moderate their arguments with some form of regulation. This is very much a "both sides" argument the same way Trump describes "both sides". The depressing truth is that the side that uses facts, common sense and reality is given less publicity and legitimacy than the the side that uses hypotheticals, unverifiable anecdotes and deep state scare mongering.

In Australia (where I live), the Green Party has stated that their objective is to abolish private gun ownership. There are those who lobby for this very cause.....you can google.

This in spite of gun laws that already go too far in terms of onerous, pointless regulations.

I agree that the Australian National Firearms Agreement is imperfect, but the alternatives that have been raised are pretty laughable. Personally, I think the people who are complaining about the post-Port Arthur laws are just as relevant as the people who still argue for Australia to be a republic because of what happened to Whitlam in the 70's. The rest of the country has moved on. As to the Greens wanting to ban all guns:

1) They're not. Regulation is a far cry from out and out banning and disarmament.
The Greens are committed to delivering stronger gun control laws to regulate the ownership and licensing of guns.
We are not calling for changes to single shot hand guns

You could argue that they are pretty excessive with regulation (I'm inclined to agree), but that is not the same as abolishing private ownership

2) In NSW at least, the Greens have less influence and clout than the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. They have never evolved past a fringe party, and I suspect they never will.

Yes, I didn't say that private ownership ban is likely, just that there are those who are working with this aim in mind.
They may not succeed in their aim, but in the process of lobbying for ever tighter regulation may make it so difficult to obtain a gun license, or own guns, that many sporting shooters may just throw up their hands and give up. Which is a victory for the anti gun lobby.

You seem to be under the misconception that the Greens are taken seriously outside of La Parouse. They aren't. Try listening to Allan Jones for a week and see which fringe group has more support. If you honestly believe there is equal representation for either "end of the spectrum", you're mistaken. It leans heavily towards the "guns for all" camp.

No misconception. My point was that there are people who are lobbying for a total ban on private gun ownership, which is not only the Greens. Nor do they have to achieve this aim in order to make things more difficult for licensed gun owners, if gun laws are gradually tightened as a result of this constant campaigning by Gun Control Australia, amongst others...as I've already mentioned.
