I'm about a third of the way through and honest to god I don't know why there's not a revolution in the streets yet.

I'm also working my way through a book about the financial collapse and the events leading up to it. I don't remember the name of it because I set it down awhile ago. But I'm getting ready to pick it back up again and I'll post the author and title later.

There was a revolution for a couple of months but fizzled out. But it's been something discussed the last 50 years and will be discussed for a long time.

I remember in one of Hobsbawm's books, he talked about the fear in British elite when the masses received the vote. He commented that the American elite had not worried about the opinions of the masses since the days of Andrew Jackson.

Nothing new under the sun....

I'm curious on that one because the Founders did have more faith in the people than elsewhere. The Federal government was designed to have very little powers and that the states who were closer to the people had more power. It's only been the last 100 years or so that the Federal government has taken control.
