By granting review of these cases now, the justices made it possible for them to be heard during the current court term.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear President Donald Trump's appeal of lower court orders, now on hold, that require his banks and accountants to turn over financial records to the House and local prosecutors in New York.

The cases could yield major rulings on the power of the House to demand records for its investigations and the authority of a president to resist such demands. By granting review now, the justices made it possible for these cases to be heard during the current court term, in March, with a decision by the end of June, just as the general election campaign heats up.

"We are pleased that the Supreme Court granted review of the President’s three pending cases," Trump's attorney, Jay Sekulow, said in a statement. "These cases raise significant constitutional issues. We look forward to presenting our written and oral arguments."

I haven’t been following this - what are Sekulow’s arguments for why Trump is exempt from a clear law?

They are trying to smear Trump any way they can.

First, it was that he was a cheater and paid Stormy Daniels. Didn't work.
Next, it was Russia. Didn't work.
Third, it was Ukraine impeachment. Didn't work.
Fourth, it was coronavirus. Didn't work.
Fifth, it's now tax returns. Won't work.
Last but not least, they will find out how many times Trump called his classmate a "stinky poo poo head" in 1st grade.

Accusing an opponent of having a black child out of wedlock is a smear.
Creating an astroturf organization designed solely to falsify a candidate's military history is a smear
Starting a conspiracy that an opponent is actually a Kenyan Muslim intent to enforce sharia law is a smear
Accusing a candidate that they are using pizza shops as a pedophile network is a smear.

The events you listed are facts.
Trump did fuck a porn star, paid her hush money out of campaign finances and then lied about it. Fact.

Elements of Trump's 2016 campaign were involved with Russians, so much so Trump's campaign manager and National Security Advisor are currently in jail as a result of an investigation that started when the Republicans were in charge of both houses of Congress. Fact.

Trump was impeached over his actions in Ukraine and not even the most ardent Trumpsucker can say he did nothing wrong. The best they can do is say he "learned his lesson". Fact.

Trump has done a shit job with corona virus. The two organizations whose opinion on this should matter, the CDC and the WHO, are unequivocal on this. Fact.

The one fact you left out was that some people are so fucking delusional in their desire to believe Trump can do nothing they'll say anything to protect their golden boy. You're probably right that nothing will come out of this. Though that's because Trump's base prefers feelings over facts, not because he's innocent.

Hope the release is ordered.

Is this unusual to have two separate cases in the same ruling?

If you were capable of replying on-topic, you would say something about the tax returns, the arguments for why they should be withheld, the arguments for why they should be exposed, or discussions on how the court case might unfold.

Instead.... this vacant bullshit.

I don't think it's that unusual, didn't we see similar for gay marriage and for drug legalization? I feel like it's something that has come up before and fairly recently.

It's clearly been established that he cheated on his wife with Stormy. The trumpets don't care.

As for Covid-19, can you name one thing he actually got right in dealing with it?

And how do you call the tax returns fifth? The tax return issue has been going on since long before Covid-19 made a species jump.

All of the things you listed above in fact did happen. Its a republican cult following that allowed it to go unpunished.
Only the last item you listed did not happen quite how you wrote, though:
Last but not least, they will find out how many times Trump called his classmate a "stinky poo poo head" in 1st grade.
he didn't call the student a name in 1st grade. He threatened the student with a knife in 5th grade, and got kicked out pf public school... So his dad sent him to a private military school.
I attended the very school he was kicked out of, and have direct knowledge of some of those events.

Note that when HL says 'didn't work', what he means is that it doesn't matter since it's their guy that did all that. But if it were a politician with a (D) by their name, they'd be out there with (tiki) torches and pitchforks demanding blood.

Glad I could help.
