The latter scenario is for those who must believe whatever the Bible says.

Why would anyone need to do that?

As we all know they believe the Bible's magic can help them cheat death. If that magic is real, then it can raise them from the grave like it raised Lazarus from the grave. It is then vitally important to them that the Bible be true.

Books have authors.

Good observation. They have words in them too.

They have a context. You learn more, not less, from studying them critically.
