If you're hospitalized for Covid there is at least a 1 in 3 chance you'll be back in the hospital for Covid damage and a 1 in 8 chance you'll die of the damage.

The more we look the more we see lasting damage, sometimes even from mild cases. This is one truly evil disease.

Brain damage. Lung damage. Organ damage. I expect that even after the vaccine, we will see an elevated death toll for years to come. Sooner or later we will have the statistic well understood: catching Covid 19 will take on average ___ years from your life.

That number is > 0.

Who here wants, willingly, to sacrifice whole years of their life? I certainly don't, at least not for the dubious pleasure of being sick for 2+ weeks (or the rest of my life...). Maybe for the sake of having a tentacle cock? But Covid 19 is no tentacle dick.

And that is just for the first 5 months after discharge. Clearly many will have complications and deaths that take longer than that to manifest.

The current "survival rate" of 98% does not take most of these deaths into account, b/c to be counted you must be currently "positive" and have active COVID symptoms at the time of death. If you adjust for the 2 week lag from initial diagnosis to death, the official US "survival rate" is about 98% of cases. But these delayed deaths could more than double that, meaning of 4-5% chance of death for positive cases overall, which would then be closer to 10% death rate among cases where there are any symptoms (assuming about 50% of positive cases are asymptomatic carriers).

I'm just shocked. My republican friends told me that covid would end after the election! What's going on here?

Yeah. I know a couple of trumpers that have had it. Several months later and they both still can barely smell or taste anything. I don't feel too bad for them, though.

More thoughts on this: This will basically double the final death toll from the people already infected.
