The Wrongs President Trump Will Do

Where he cannot control information, an assault on the truth. Complete lies. Confusion. Trump truth. He will continue his sales pitch of jobs, security, and individualism. He wants to get as much of America as he can operating on bellyfeel.

If he gets to pick a second Supreme Court justice, watch for how accommodating Congress becomes. We may get sold down the river. If democracy goes in the US, what will become of our friends?

China versus Trump's ego is the wildcard.
That's likely going to be very wild, yes.

This is the way democracy ends
This is the way democracy ends
This is the way democracy ends
Is it democracy to begin with? When the elected candidate got nearly 3 million votes less than his opponent?

The ONLY reason I ever wanted Clinton to win was the SCOTUS appointment(s). And to keep Twitler away from The Button.

So you don't care about access to birth control and abortion, public education, climate change, stem cell research, anything that is done by the CDC, the National Science Foundation, Department of Health, and every other Federal Institute that will no longer be advancing science in the public interest? The damage Trump will do to all these areas in 4 years will take generations to recover from, because there will not be enough funds to simply catch back up in the subsequent 4 years.
Appointments to SCOTUS could easily cement changes in the above, allowing abortion bans, saying the EPA overstepped with regulations on CO2, etc...

Right now we are at a 4 yr pause in progress. How bad things get, we don't know. We hardly knew 10,000 American troops would be killed or maimed in Iraq in January 2001.
I agree that SCOTUS is a big deal, but the combined damage he'll do to all these areas with his appointment of anti-science nutjobs bent on destroying all these organizations will probably be greater.
Plenty of harm, certainly.

What is funny is that you stop and think, well at least W didn't do tha... Wait... W did do that. *sigh*

And if they stay put, it won't be just Trump who will be responsible. If Saint Theresa goes to Washington just to make a trade deal and doesn't pip a word about global warming then who is responsible?

Right, it's not just Trump. Everyone who isn't pushing a "green agenda" and, more importantly, enacting it in their personal lives and neighborhoods and bioregions are complicit with all the worst things that were going to happen anyway leaving things to ANY politician so that they go on shopping without having to be bothered with it. People seem to think there's a political solution, we want the people in power to do it for us ... The political compromises will result in ruin too, it doesn't take madmen to do it.

While greater public will to do what is needed, that will and the ability to know what is actually needed and how to accomplish it depends upon publicly funded science done in the public interests and the public understanding of that science. Trump can and is already stopping science from being done and prohibiting scientists from making their finding available to the public.
Also, almost every viable solution requires government policy that forces both manufactures, distributors, and consumers to pay the real cost of their actions rather than keep their expenses down by robbing others via destroying environmental resources.

Yes, but a lifetime of damage can be done in 4 years, without any help from SCOTUS appointments, and SCOTUS cannot accomplish many of the serious harms that can be done directly by Trump and his appointees to these Institutions. IOW, while harmful in their own right, his SCOTUS appointments are not neccessary nor sufficient for most of the harms he will and is already doing to these issues.

So, to say SCOTUS is the "ONLY" reason one would vote Hillary over Trump implies that one either does not care about any of these harms, or does not understand all the countless non-SCOTUS ways Trump is and will cause these harms that there is zero chance Hillary would have done.

He's already trying to destroy the free press and he's been in office less than a week.
How much of a free press is that though?

And there's always the Internet and a great tradition of vocal dissent in America.

Tell me when the free press has been annihilated for real.

There's been a significant increase in the activity of fact-checking during the last ten years in the U.S. (in France too in fact).

But maybe we would need to check that fact too.

Of course, fact-checking isn't the micracle cure some had hoped it would be.

Hasten man made climate change.

I'm surprised so little was made of this leading up to the election. We heard about all kinds of stuff but very little about this impending danger

Your guy believes that climate change is a Chinese conspiracy.

The more serious consequences of climate change will come late enough for most people while Trump is clearly perceived as an immediate danger.

Still, I think you're right in that critical policies towards lessening those consequences have to be taken now and having to wait at least four more years is going to make things worse. Some people argue though that many states are already implementing some of these policies on their own and that big business is already on the side of doing something earlier rather than later so Trump won't stop everything. It seems the Chinese also recognise the need for action now, although perhaps they won't be as fast and effective as would be necessary. And I'm not sure climate-change deniers will be able to keep up the charade for very long. The effects of climate change are already upon us and people are starting to lose money and property as a result.
