These Birds of Prey Are Deliberately Setting Forests on Fire

While anthropomorphizing is a thing, I think people more often make the opposite error. I think many animals are capable of thinking much better than we often give them credit for.

Things have come a long way in recent times. The attitude used to be that animals had no actual thoughts or feelings, that what looked like an animal in pain was just a biological response to sustained damage with no real feeling being experienced by the animal.

Another behavior I'm curious about is crows that drop fish into empty bodies of water. At my work, we have several large water tanks and crows will drop live fish into them. I read once before that many of the small pothole lakes in the Canadian shield were likely stocked by crows. I can't find that information at the moment.

Crows are interesting animals.
