This book is currently no. 1 on Amazon and out of stock.

The wealthy are starting to freak out over this book.

The amazing reception of this book along with new research coming out with data proving what we've known all along about how the political system favors the rich an powerful makes me feel like we are about to undergo a major sea change in this country.

It might be wishful thinking on my part and for all I know Piketty will fade away in a few months never to be thought of again outside of liberal blogs.

But until then I think I might start buying stock in guillotine manufacturing companies.

This has been argued about for the last 30 years or so so another book on it won't change anything more than what has alredy been argued. We had protests for a few months on it.

"another book"

This is not "just another book" on the subject. The mere fact that Amazon can't keep it in stock should be evidence enough of that. I mean how many times do tens of thousands of people rush out to buy a 700-page economics book?

I understand your wanting to downplay the potential gamechanger this book might be though.

Meh...until voters are more of a threat to incumbent congressional critters jobs, than natural death, I won't be holding my breath...

and the OWS protests went on for how long and how many people participated in them, but they fizzled out over a period of time. Nope, this will get some air time and not much more.

The OWS protests may have fizzled out but the problems they highlighted have not gone away and seem to be of increasing concern to Americans. In that respect the OWS protests have been a success.

The issues have been bitched at and discussed over the last 30 years so it's not something new.

Maybe I'm wrong and engaging in wishful thinking but imo this issue is becoming an issue to more and more people.

The book (I read Krugman's review this morning) is causing quite fire storm. But please, by all means, anyone who wishes to dismiss it, please do so. Matter is fact, put the book right out of your mind and never speak or think of it again.

Please do that. We would so appreciate it.

Wealth begats Wealth. If you don't have properties that produce income, you aren't wealthy, you are a renter. Renters can't ever get ahead, because they have to constantly pay rent.

My great grandfather's wisdom...

It's just different fodder in the ongoing debate between Republicans and Democrats that we've been having. He advocates higher progressve taxes, and I remember the tax debate a few years ago about what income brackets to raise taxes on.
