Off to a rip roaring start.

Who is going to get hurt most? Seems to me it’s the States that have the most MAGAts relying on federal $$$.
How much pain are they going to be willing to convert to anger against sleepy Joe and that black guy, and never suspect they’re being fleeced??
The economy will be great. Probably the greatest ever. But people won’t be able to afford stuff, inflation will certainly push double digits again (thanks Obama!) and the Democrats will put a run on eggs just to make the Trump Administration (which is doing a great job by the way) look bad.
More popcorn, please. Oh sorry - it’s just bread and circuses.

How hard is it to learn Russian if you only ever knew the Romance languages?

$5.79 for the eggs. Now it's back to normal where white eggs are cheaper than brown eggs and the display is mostly the white eggs.

Yeah, the further west in the US you go the prices seem to get higher. Did the bird flu effect chicken ranches in the west more than the east?

Tomorrow is Tariff Day! Whoo Hoo!!!

Maybe we should call it Freedom Day

Gee, most of our produce comes from Mexico or Canadian hot houses this time of year. I guess Florida growers might be happy. Fuck the consumer eh?

Until the brown people who actually harvest the product get sent to gitmo. Then the Trump supporters will notice that Trump is keeping his campaign promises.

Oops!

Tomatoes will soon be too expensive to throw at Melania. I really want someone to knock that stupid Spy Vs. Spy hat off her head.
I grow lots of them in a greenhouse. In the past we have put them up for winter. This year I might have to sell them when the price hits $15/lb.

The deportations are working. Brown eggs are back to usual being more than white eggs. Two weeks and he's doubled the price of eggs.

I think the market is awaiting to see if anything comes from the meetings with Mexico and Canada today. The markets and the rest of the world never really know what is going on in Trump's vacant mind. Hoping for the best. If the meetings come off and Trump repeats his idiotic mantra, then I think that'll cause the markets to really react. If an agreement comes together or a "delay", then the markets will again pause and think maybe Trump won't be so stupid.

I think Trudeau should offer to stop exports of energy to the US to provide the US a trade surplus with Canada.

Just heard the market is down 600 points. I don't know what that means since I'm not up on stock market lingo but it doesn't sound good.

They are down about 1% already just based on the uncertainty and the dire prospect that Trump might not get his way.

1% means that the market is starting to take the possibility of this seriously, but not remotely low enough that they are certain. I'd figure at least a couple thousand with no progress or hints of progress in the meetings today.

The Market is currently looking at Trump asking him "Are you that stupid?"

Trump has placed a one month delay on the Mexican products tarifs in exchange for 10,000 Mexican troops at the border to cut off immigration and drug interdiction..

Pssst. Those troops were already there. Mums the word.

The market I referred to above was the DJIA. The NYSE composite is down 110 points but that is better than the steep drop it took as soon as trading opened this morning.

Hedge funds are shorting the market.

Hedge funds are making a multi-billion-dollar gamble against the US economy, betting Donald Trump's presidency will result in a massive market crash that could devastate 401(k)s, pensions, and household savings across America.

Data from Goldman Sachs has sent shockwaves through financial circles, revealing a dramatic surge in 'short' positions against US stocks - a move that signals a belief the market is headed for a precipitous crash.

Throughout January, investors placed 10 times more bets on American stocks falling than on their continued rise, a staggering shift that reflects growing unease over Wall Street's future under Trump's leadership.

The timing of such financial revolt is no coincidence and comes just as the world witnessed a $600 billion wipeout in major US tech stocks earlier this week, driven by fears over Chinese AI rival DeepSeek, which disrupted the once-unshakable dominance of America's technology sector.

The Magnificent Seven - Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Tesla— all suffered massive losses, leaving investors scrambling for answers.

The latest hedge fund moves mark a staggering reversal from just two months ago when Wall Street billionaires were pouring money into so-called 'Trump trades.'
