After the Chairman of the Federal Reserve spoke the truth about the Fed's ability to counteract the effect of Mr. Trump's escalating trade war with China, Mr. Trump tweeted "My only question is, who is our bigger enemy, Jay Powell or Chairman Xi?,”.

The answer to his question is "Neither, Mr Trump, it is you".

The Federal Reserve is essentially a private consortium of Wall Street banks, which with robber barons have been controlling the U.S. economy for more than a century. Given that, one cannot argue that it is an enemy of the U.S. Rather, it controls the U.S. economy.

The problem is that Trump's trade war threatens the U.S. dollar as a global reserve currency, which is churned out by the Fed and the same Wall Street banks through financial deregulation. At the same time, Trump's policies follow those of China, which not only restricts free trade but also controls borders.

Trump's problem is that he views himself as the United States, and anyone who disagrees with his edicts is automatically 'the enemy." He fundamentally misunderstands his role.
