US now making Assad an enemy

Il Douchebag told Putin who told Assad who pulled his equipment and personel out of the area.

The runways were not hit. Minimal damage.

And we had to get clearance from Putin before we could launch the strike.
Clearance or 10 minutes warning? There's a difference.
Sounds like we told them because we agreed to do so. The amount of warning is unknown, as far as I can tell. Also can't find anything on confirmed damage.

Yeah, that's normal. Time for a heads up but not time for Syria to mitigate much damage. That's a big difference from asking for clearance for an attack.

Yeah, I think Putin need to warn&bomb some Air base in Saudi Arabia. They did invade Yemen after all,.

I think the American-backed IRA used to give slightly longer warnings. I think that truth has never existed in this particular war/group of wars, but we should ask 'Who gains?' The Syrian Government, which was beating the terrorists hands down, clearly had nothing to gain by this bombing, so I guess that ISIS or some group of Americans started this tale. Who would be allowed to know anyway?

In Syria, the US and Russia have an agreement to let each other know when something like this happens so that there are fewer unknowns and people don't start panicking and leading us accidentally into a war with each other.

We will all know in 50 years.

Some of us, the ones who are VERY lucky!

We told them because the Russians had a military installation at the airfield we bombed... we didn't want Russian casualties. Obviously, though, the pullout might have tipped them off... duh.

Clinton was just calling on him to do this too, that's been her position for a long time. This is a 180 for Trump though. Wagging the dog? Overcompensating to show he is not that friendly with Putin? Who knows, but this chemical attack rationale sounds phony.

I think it's called politics; attacking before confirmation that the government actually authorized this and the Syrian air force did this. Trump will be condemned either way but I think this way is about raising approval ratings. Trump is now a politician.

Honestly, we don't need to kill anyone, if we must, we need to decimate their ability to pull off such attacks which means no strips of pavement to launch or land jets. Granted, Syria will probably just move it over to their airports.

Actually it is impossible to know why Trump does anything.

Well, it took only 20 years for US to admit that they actively instigated soviet invasion in Afghanistan.
Maybe if we are lucky we will know in 20 years in this case as well.
Ooh ooh! Sounds like a separate thread where you can practice your matrix-style dodge skills!

we got the targeting information from the Russians.

I bet we only took out two unused hangers and blew a lot of holes in the desert. Minimal damage...

(Just like the British did with German V1 and V2 targeting in WW2)

I did not know I was required to dodge here

Wait... what???

I just heard that the Heritage Foundation used sarin gas on children and babies. Can someone tell Donald?

Put it on Fox and Friends and the Heritage Foundation will be bombed within 24 hours.

And why do we think this isn't anything but a symbolic gesture to distance himself from Russia. It seems possible that he's colluded with Russia (and by extension Assad) to pick a target that has already been vacated.
I certainly do not trust ANY administration not to cock this up, but this administration? Ugh. Half a million people dead, and 70 in a chemical attack force a change in our policy suddenly.
I was thinking that earlier today. Several years, so many dead... and 100 more tip the scale to military intervention.

I suppose teaming with Russia on ISIS isn't happening now?

Trump calls on all civilized nations to make things right in Syria. Just press the Easy button Donhole.

This is what I'm thinking. Of course, we will never really know.

Il Douchebag told Putin who told Assad who pulled his equipment and personel out of the area.

That is a bit more complicated than a simpler explanation. It could be true, but it is a bit contrived.

I'm a bit more interested in the confirmed damage. If the runways were not hit, that seems a bit stupid.
