The west is Judaeo Christian Greek, western civilization. Persian, Asian, and Arab civilizations had different intellectual paths.

There was a history of wetern civilization series on a local cqble staion by a prof at UCLA. The development of thought in wetern civilization is traceable.

Further, thousands of years ago, the Euthyphro dilemma proved that no religion can make you more moral. No authority-based moral system can. At best, authority-based moral systems can demand your obedience. Further, most of the stories in the Old Testament were stolen from older religions from the region, so if you're going to claim religion is responsible, at least cite the older religions Judaism stole from.
