So just went up to see the cave of the apostle where supposedly St. John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelations. It’s a beautiful island with a nice view from the entrance to the cave.

A word of advice, don’t ask the guide if this really is the place where it was written or if it is just some later tradition. You would’ve thought I questioned the existence of god himself. The entire Island is built upon this myth.

Inside pictures are prohibited but there are some on Wikipedia.

I'd like to ask the guide if the local fauna includes a creature with 7 heads and 10 horns, with a crown on each horn, and if it makes a good pet.
If not, is it good eatin'?

I heard George Washington once slept there.

More interesting

In the most remote area of Mount Athos, the ascetic monks of ‘Karoulia’ live like hermits having to climb tall, dangerous rocks to reach each other, often putting their lives in danger.
