After Taylor Lorenz doxed Libs of Tik Tok in the pages of the Washington Post, that paper released a statement defending the doxing, and defending Lorenz's journalistic standards.

They also lied, claiming that Lorenz had not published the home address of the Libs of Tik Tok account holder, when in fact, she had. The article was later scrubbed to purge those details, but they were there when the article was published at 6 am on Tuesday.

They wrote that Lorenz, who cried on MSNBC after getting mean tweets and then blasted MSNBC for interviewing her at all since it led to even more mean tweets, "is an accomplished journalist."

Senior Managing Editor Cameron Barr said that Lorenz's practice of using Antifa-affiliated accounts to gain information, and showing up at the homes of Libs of Tik Tok's family members, were "reporting methods" that "comport entirely with The Washington Post's professional standards."

"Chaya Raichik," Barr writes, giving the name of the Libs of Tik Tok account holder who had chosen anonymity until Lorenz published her name, and address, in the Washington Post, "in her management of the Libs of Tik Tok Twitter account and in media interviews, has had significant impact on public discourse and her identity had become public knowledge on social media. We did not publish or link to any details about her personal life."

That was an outright lie. The details were there in the first publishing of the article.

The Washington Post defended its exposure of Libs of Tik Tok, as did Lorenz, despite Lorenz having complained about being harassed online, claiming that even one personal detail was enough to get her death threats. And the Washington Post simply lied.

The Spectator's Amber Athey reached out to the Washington Post to find out what they think constitutes doxxing, if it isn't publishing a person's business address and license number. And also why, if they didn't think that was doxing, they removed the link.

Good. Fuck her.

The account has been promoted by podcast host Joe Rogan, it’s been featured in the New York Post, the Federalist, the Post Millennial and a slew of other right-wing news sites. Meghan McCain has retweeted it. The online influencer Glenn Greenwald has amplified it to his 1.8 million Twitter followers while calling himself the account’s “Godfather.” Last Thursday, the woman behind the account appeared anonymously on Tucker Carlson’s show to complain about being temporarily suspended for violating Twitter’s community guidelines. Fox News often creates news packages around the content that Libs of TikTok has surfaced.

Showing Chaya Raichik's real estate license was too much, which is probably why WaPo edited the story. Trying to paint Chaya Raichik as some innocent party with zero media influence is complete horseshit.

So yeah. Fuck her.

On a side note, I laughed when Thepostmillenial thought quoting Tim Pool of all fucking people would give them legitimacy.

There is the issue of "nut picking" the crazies for people who willingly post on Tik Tok.

They are often at least slight outliers with more emotional energy than common sense. And only a few like teachers have any power over others.

The most humorous account in this vein was Common Filth who read and riffed on tumblr posts in his "Tumblristas" videos. Find them on Youtube if you are so inclined.

MSM are the worst. Bury the Hunter Biden story but get all prissy when someone takes the piss out of them. Pathetic.

"Takes the piss"? That is without a doubt the most dishonest description of "Libs of TikTok". It was bigoted hatemongering with the sole goal of destroying gay and trans lives. Fuck that worthless QAnon cunt.

Reposting publically available content is 'hatemongering'?

Yawn. This MIGHT be an interesting story. Who are the "Libs of Tik Tok" anyway?

Wake me up when it's discussed by an actual news organization.

The Post Millennial ... has been criticized for publishing false stories and COVID-19 disinformation, as well as for its opaque funding and political connections.

I don't see anything wrong with the wapo story. LoTT is a very influential activist page in the political discourse. It's legitimate to publish the name of the person behind it. And that real estate link with her business contact information is easily found on Google, it's not a big deal either.

However, I don't like Taylor Lorenz's reporting practices for other reasons. And I think she's too mentally unstable to have the job she has.

LoTT and TL both make their living off of shining tendentious and accusatory spotlights of shame on people, but then cry when the spotlight is turned on them.

In the end though, the story just made the page more popular than ever. It's got almost a million followers now.
