Were the torrential downpours of this past year larger than normal?

I really know little about weather so I don't know where to look.

But I have read that with AGW there will be larger torrential rains, partly because warmer air holds more water.

We had Texas, the British Isles and now Nagasaki.

There was a strong El Niño as well...

Here is a repository of weather data, collected and archived by NOAA's Center for Environmental Information:

THE SCENE AT 1:15 PM, 6/22/16

Jackson and Wood Counties in West Virginia are now under a 10% risk of SIGNIFICANT SEVERE due to winds that may gust to 74 MPH+.

Yesterday it seemed worse. Today has been thundery and birds are chirping louder than usual, but not much rain.

wow, it never rained a drop anywhere in the world from 1901 to 1909, huh?
I think maybe the data is skewed a bit by increases in measuring stations over the centuries, no?
