"Werewolf" Vs. "Vampire" in Southern California

Well that won't stand up in court. Everyone knows you can't kill a vampire by shooting.

If he had swapped the roles, and used silver bullets, then he might have had a solid defense. But no jury is going to buy the story the way he has it.

That depends. The article didn't mention what the werewolf shot the vampire with. If he was a clever werewolf then he would have used a spear gun and shot a wooden spear (stake) through that vampire's heart. I guess that would still leave open the question of whether it is legal to kill a vampire in California. Even if not, I'm sure the jury could be convinced that it was justifiable homicide, after all, it would be a jury of Californians.

The prosecutor seems to lean heavily on the idea that other cops found the perp 'relatively stable' after the shooting.
Well, sure. The vampire was dead, then, so his tensions were eased, and no one at the scene tried tossing a tennis ball across the yard to see if he'd go after it.

It sounds like an horror movie with Christopher Lee and Oliver Reed. But Oliver Reed is dead.
