I don't want any spoilers. I am deciding whether the invest any time in watching this series. IT has the obvious flavor of a rapture story, but its not clear whether the event really was a rapture. Reviews indicate religion is a major theme, with one claiming it asks "What would it require for people to take religion seriously again? And would it be a good thing if we did?"

Given that I haven't heard of protests of this show, I am fearing their answer to the latter is "Yes", which would make me not want to watch it. Basically, I am asking if this is the kind of show that most true believers would dislike, and thus something that doubters and even outright atheists would enjoy?
Or put another way, is the show honest and realistic about religion?

Not really. it doesn't deal that much with organized religion, as it does with "spirituality" and mythology. I thought it was ok, it wasn't trying to force feed stupid-ass christian morality and you can watch it as just a supernatural thriller.

Yeah.^

The show is not a "Religion is the Answer" type of show. It contemplates the aftermath of a supernatural or unexplainable event that people have to deal with. It does have the Rapture element of people inexplicably disappearing, but there's no identifiable and common characteristics those people share.

It's slow and often tedious. There's nothing wrong with a show that takes its time, and that's part of the advantage of cable and internet TV series. They're allowed to grow and develop. But this one is really taking advantage of that.

Still, it's worth watching and every episode manages to maintain enough intrigue for me to want to see the next one.
