Have you ever installed a full desktop Linux system on your Chromebook? It isn’t all the hard, but it is a bit more complex than it should be. New features in the latest version of Chrome OS will make dipping into an alternative operating system easier. For example, you’ll be able to easily boot a full Linux system from a USB drive and use it without any additional hassle!

Normally, it's real easy to spot Google's motive. I can't figure this one out. Are they really trying to do something for the greater good?

Being friendly to linux hardly hurts Google. An extra sale is still an extra sale and merely being able to say that you can install another OS easily could persuade some consumers to buy one, even if they eventually stick with Chrome OS.

I'm assuming Google has hooks into Chrome OS or will eventually so they can collect data and maybe insert ads. I'm also assuming they want the Play Store to get more eyeballs. Geeks would support it more if it were Linux friendly.so maybe Google is counting on the geeks to tell their non-computer savvy friends and family to buy a Chrome Book. How does that sound?
