Portland braced for far-right rally and antifa counter-demo

The stated aim of the far-right gathering is to urge that the antifa (anti-fascist) movement be declared a domestic terror organisation.

Portland, one of the most liberal cities in the US, is regarded as an antifa stronghold.

Are we not supposed to hate the haters without becoming one of the haters? This appears to be the right's - and Trump's - tactic. You can't blame trumpo because this is a huge part of his base, maybe the biggest. So all manner of protest is reduced to a binary choice, doesn't matter if you're a Nazi or someone who hates Nazis If you hate Nazis you're a Nazi. And if you don't hate Nazis then it's because Nazis are respectable, law-abiding peaceful haters.

The thing is, there actually ARE well meaning people on "both" sides, because this is not as binary as both extreme ends of it want us to believe. Not everyone who disagrees with the left is a Nazi. Not everyone who disagrees with the right is Antifa. Herding everyone into one of two pens and then branding them all by the worst in each pen is irrational and tearing down society.
