English is complicated
Clinton (or her surrogates) should be refusing to address Comey's vacuous announcement regarding emails she did not send, found on someone else's computer. Rather, they should be VERY LOUDLY AND RELENTLESSLY demanding that Comey release the latest on the evidence in Trump's upcoming fraud and child rape cases. Of course he won't do any such thing, but that doesn't matter. As long as all the words out of their mouths are "Trump fraud" or "Trump rape", and the media is outraged enough by the demands, "Trump fraud" and "Trump rape" will be what all the media are talking about...

Stupid, juvenile etc. - but that seems to be what works.

Ya, one commentator made the point that this election is like psoriasis vs eczema. Whichever one you focus on is the one that you notice is giving you a painful itch. When the stories are about Trump, Clinton goes up in the polls and when the stories are about Clinton, Trump goes up in the polls. Clinton needs to get the media to stop talking about her and start talking about Trump.

Now, it would of course be nice if the media gave a sober and dispassionate accounting of the facts and the US population made their voting choices based on an educated weighting of the ... I can't even finish the sentence. You're stuck with the Americans you have and the news media you have, so it's not like things are suddenly going to become rational in the next week and you need to deal with what you have.

Exactly my point, and well stated. It's not like there's nothing inflammatory and outrageous that they could say about Trump to get the media's attention - without even having to make shit up like the trumpsuckers do. At this point, failing to do so is tantamount to negligence.

Yea, I was looking forward to SNL clearing things up on their annual-since-at-least-2007 Halloween Special. But they decided to take "the holiday" off. And that's despite all the fodder they had this week on the election. Do ya think they decided to stay clear of it? It's starting to get scary out there. :eeka:

Not really. About 30% of the country has already voted and Clinton has a clear lead in banked votes according to every analysis. Opinions of the candidates are also hardened for the vast majority of the voters left over. I'd also be shocked if Clinton didn't have at least one more major bombshell to drop about Trump that they've been saving up to drop on his head this last week just before the majority of the country goes to the polls.

While the truism "only a Democrat could fuck this up" does always hold true in every situation where they have an easy win, I don't think that even Clinton could blow the election at this point.

I didn't know that many had voted already. While I tend to see SNL as pro-Clinton/anti-Trump what's scary is the political morass Comey's placed the FBI in. He better do something to fix it and quick. If Clinton wins Comey's Thanksgiiving goose is already cooked.

Yeah, early voting in some states has been going on for a while. States also have a pretty wide latitude in their ability to pass election law. Oregon for example, has opt-out registration for voting, and all mail in votes. If you have a driver's license or a State I.D. and are eligible to vote in Oregon, you're automatically registered to vote, though not assigned a political affiliation, and you will receive a ballot in the mail.

I worry about mail-in voting. If people are concerned about fraudulent voting why aren't they even more worried about people selling their mail-in votes. I could see where paying $5 of so per vote could turn a close election. Especially in poor neighborhoods where people think their vote is worthless. Same thing with absentee ballots and internet voting except this has zero security as far as I can tell.

Well said. Sam Wang, over at Princeton Election Consortium is saying that cake is baked.

Still, there an impressive amount of tension being generated.
