WTF is wrong with House Democrats?

Yes, don't be so PC. Tell the truth.

They reelected Nancy Pelosi as minority leader again. Is reelecting a 76 year old who is part of the old guard of the Democratic Party which lost this election a good way to renew it?

P.P.S.: What's going to be the next monumental mistake? DNC electing Keith Ellison as chairman?

You are as delusional a righty as are those who voted Trump!! I guess you got your Bannon fix.

At what point does it cross over from legitimate-fringe-nutjob-fearmongering to Purposefully-Ironic-Satirism?

What's supposed to be delusional about my OP?

The Democratic Conhgresscritters who think relecting Nancy Pelosi as their leader yet again are the delusional ones.

I don't think it's delusional, they just have different calculus than you would think.

Sure it's easy for us to criticize from afar, but up close they have to fear her giant mallet.

Delusional in what way? The House Democrats are going to be largely irrelevant over the next 2 years.

If you want to win elections, I think a smart way to elect a minority leader would be to weigh the vote so that the more competitive a seat is, the more weight the vote for that representative is given.

And they'll continue to be that way with Pelosi at the helm.
All of the House is up for reelection in less than two years. And the minority leader is the public face of House Democrats.

They will be largely irrelevant regardless who is at the helm.

Hey, they picked up seats this election with Pelosi at the helm.

I am not an expert on politics, but my guess is that neither the Speaker of the House nor the minority leader in the House has much effect on the local election for Congress.

BINGO!

And we have a winner, folks. Pelosi had absolutely nothing to do with who got elected to anything, other than her own seat, and she will have nothing to do with who anyone who gets elected in the next presidential election, assuming that she is retained as a House leader after the next congressional election.

Actually, getting other people elected is one of the main jobs of the House Leader. That's why Ryan was running around the country and directing money and resources towards Republicans in close races before the election because it's his job to maximize the effectiveness of the Republican congressional delegation and the main way to do that is to do whatever he can to help increase the number of Republican congresscritters. He also has a responsibility to try and get the Republicans' platform implemented and that's why one of his major failures in the election (from a job duties point of view) was not supporting Trump, since a Republican President is more likely to help get that done than a Democratic one.

If you have a House Leader who's only role in the election was in getting herself re-elected, then you have a House Leader who has failed in one of the major areas of her job responsibility. If you have a House Leader who doesn't do things to help her Party's Presidential nominee get elected, then you have a House Leader who has failed in one of the major areas of her job responsibility. I'm not saying that Pelosi didn't do either of those, since I'm not sure what she did or did not do in the last election, but your statement that the House Leader doesn't do things to impact these things is a faulty one.

This seems like another reason not to make Pelosi leader.

Incorrect. The job of House Minority Leader has nothing to do with elections at all. The job concerns itself only with happenings within the House, including some federal appointments. Some House Leaders may have and over-inflated sense of self worth that makes them want to try to get others elected, but that is not a responsibility of the job, and as far as I can tell Pelosi hasn't done much, if anything, related to what you claim her job is. Those things you enumerate withe regard to elections are the responsibility of the DNC chair.

I will take laughing dog's word for it that he is no expert on politics. On the other hand, neither am I. On the grasping hand, I am aware that neither House leader has any official responsibility with regard to presidential, congressional, state, or local elections.

The DNC and DCCC are in charge of getting Democrats elected to the House. But the party leader in the House does affect elections insofar as the direction and record of the party in the House affects elections.

This much is true, so in hindsight my choice of words such as "absolutely nothing to do with" was unwarranted. The words "nothing directly to do with", or "nothing officially to do with" would be more accurate.

Even if you grant that, I'll ask a similar question to others about the DNC and the like I've asked in other threads and not gotten a good answer to - what has Pelosi done in the last six years which warrant her keeping her job?

I mean, I assume that her re-election means that having her as House Leader means more positives than negatives. What are those positives?

Fuck if I know, I don't frequent DC, much less the Capitol building. I am assuming she gets some shit done there, like making federal appointments to congressional positions that no one outside of congress has heard of. She aint just a pretty face.

The first would be that she is not a Republican, after that it gets a bit muddy for me.
