How should west respond to potential (likely) Russian invasion of Ukraine?

Do you not realize there are a bunch of foreigners who have volunteered to go fight for Ukraine?
Oh, I do! There are plenty of idiots.
But do you realize that a retired general is not a simple dumbass yahoo who overdosed on CNN? Do you honestly think I am naive enough to think that these retired generals don't call to currently active NATO generals daily?

I was not born Yesterday. I am 99% sure that he was "volunteered" by the NATO.

Speaking of counting dead russian generals.
NYT says US is helping to assassinate them by providing real time intelligence data to nazi forces.
I guess russian army needs to do something about it. Get away from WW2 style command and control structure where higher ranks are unnecessary close to the front line and such.
No cell phones for sure.

Nonsense. Most locals have fled, and not to Russia, but other parts of Ukraine or abroad
Nonsense is all yours. People in Eastern Ukraine fled to Russia when they could.
Nazi regime was trying to prevent Russia route, but they did.
People in Western Ukraine for obvious reason choose to leave to Poland/Europe.

So you are wrong.
Repeating a false claim doesn't make it true.

That's not a claim. That's undeniable conclusion. Kharkov city bombing was a nazi regime provocation, period.
Kramatorsk, Tochka-U, nazi regime war crime.
Donetsk , Tochka-U, nazi regime war crime.
Lughansk City Hall aerial attack in 2014, nazi regime war crime.
One of the perpetrators is dead, another is not known.
Mariupol, multiple war crimes of using civilian population as shield.
simply rape and murder. Countless witnesses, tons of data for court.

You all, on the other hand, parrot CNN garbage which they admitted to be lies.
CNN admitted they are lying. Do you even realize what it means?
CNN lies to to create impression that Putin is losing and Ze is winning.
They think that Putin is watching them. Ze is watching for sure (reminds you anyone ?), but Putin is unlikely.
Putin isn't losing. The trouble is, he isn't winning either. This quickly turned into a WWI stalemate. The fact that the tense for the conversation remains present and not past, implies that after over two months, Russian advancements in Ukraine have been insufficient to justify stopping the incursion. And the loss of the ship at sea has made things harder. Russia has been shelling the heck out of Ukraine. And yet, the gains for Russia and its army have been pretty small.

When Putin talks, it isn't a guy who is clearly on the verge of victory. Instead, he warns Finland and Sweden from joining NATO, about the West supporting Ukraine. You complain about CNN lying. But if Putin was winning, if he had won, this would be over. He wouldn't be whining about these things. He'd be annexing eastern Ukraine into Russia. But there isn't much territory to annex. Certainly not enough to justify the cost of this invasion to the oligarchs and the nation.
I respectfully disagree. Putin is indeed losing. He must conquer or he loses. From ISW today’s analysis:

“Ukrainian defenses have largely stalled Russian advances in Eastern Ukraine. Russian troops conducted a number of unsuccessful attacks in Eastern Ukraine on May 4 and were unable to make any confirmed advances. Russian forces attacking south of Izyum appear increasingly unlikely to successfully encircle Ukrainian forces in the Rubizhne area. Ukrainian forces have so far prevented Russian forces from merging their offensives to the southeast of Izyum and the west of Lyman, Slovyansk, and Kramatorsk, as Russian forces likely intended.”

They haven’t been able to do shit. A stalemate is a loss. They’re being thrown back around Kharkiv as well today. Even around the Azov steel plant in Mariupol, they’re getting thrown back.

Putin May have to announce full scale mobilization on May 9th. But if he does he’ll be telegraphing that he’s losing. Which he is. Watch the Russian people avoid service. In the late 80’s, something like 90% of conscripts just didn’t show up. we could see massive but passive resistance to the war. That’s Russia’s fundamental dilemma. It’s troops aren’t willing to fight and die in Ukraine. Ukrainians are. And it will only get worse as the war drags on interminably.
Interesting to read Asia Times take on it.

That might be a good idea. But I have a much simpler solution that would save Russian generals and their soldiers: stop invading Ukraine! Return home! It's not your country. Stop blowing up shit. No one wants Russian troops in their country anymore.

25% of Russian professional Army is in Ukraine now. The rest is just spread over Russia and doing nothing. Russia has small population but not that small.
Just so you know.

No, It's our country, it's our people.

Spain arrested Ukrainian opposition leader currently blogger at the request of Ukrainian regime. So much for democracy and freedom.

Anybody curious what "waronfakes.com" is?
Don't know. All I know is how 3 weeks old body should look like in warm weather.
Warm weather in March? Stop bullshitting.

Average weather in March in Kiev (Kiev Region), Ukraine

The average minimum temperature (usually the minimum temperature is noted during the night) in Kiev in March is -0.7°C (30.74°F). The amount of rain/snow in March is normal with an average of 39mm (1.5in). It rains on average a total of 14 days. Most people don't tend to visit Kiev during this period since it is known as a chilly month. The average maximum daytime temperature lies around 6.4°C (43.52°F).

Plus I know objects can't magically disappear and then appear few frames later.
A couple of months ago you tried to argue that the video of a missile hitting a council building was faked too. It didn't work then. It doesn't work now.

Dude, I am still talking about that very thing :)
Ukrainian nazi provocation 100%
Since then they did way worse things of course. Donetsk, Kramatorsk....

Warm weather in March? Stop bullshitting.
Dude, temperature was recorded and is known.

Nope. Ukraine doesn't belong to Russia. Neither do Poland, the Baltics, Sweden and all the other eastern European countries. They are all sovereign. The west needs to continue pouring aid and weapons into Ukraine (but also the other states) until Russian imperialists stop. We'll see who wins.

Nope. Ukraine doesn't belong to Russia.
No, it's Russia which does not belong to Ukraine anymore.
"Independent" Ukraine illegally occupied parts of Russia which are now going back to Russia.

Now, strictly speaking even remaining Ukrainian Ukraine is legally on shaky grounds.
Becasue of the the way they conducted their exit from Soviet Union. But we can let it slide for now.

So from what I hear most of the damage being done is to eastern Ukraine.. The same region that had most of the pro-russian Ukrainians. Congrats pootie, you have devistated the lives of the ones that were most likely to support you. This leaving Ukraine much more anti-russia than when you started
Yep, that's what UN observers say, and most of the damage done is done by Ukrainian nazi regime. That's why there is no way back now. People don't want to live under criminal ukrainian regime.

It’s not your country and it’s not your people. Ukrainians are not Russians. Their language and their culture is different. Moreover, Kiev Rus predated Moscow by hundreds of years. It was a great capital when Moscow was little more than an obscure trading outpost. Ukraine is a great country. Yours is a shit hole.

And Ukraine is kicking Russia’s ass in the war. No wonder you‘re becoming increasingly unstable in your comments.

Spoken well, like a toddler.

There has been substantial progress in cutting off Russian oil/gas in Europe. Germany is finally committing to cutting off Russia:

However, if we really want to stop Russian imperialism, we have to stop all economic transactions with Russia. We pat ourselves on the back for aiding Ukraine, but the west currently sends almost a billion dollars a day to Russia for its oil/gas. That has to stop. Then as the war continues, we have to find a way to stop China and India from supporting Russia. China wants it both ways. It wants to make money off the west and money off of Russia.

Whatevs. I'd be interested to know which parts of Sweden and Finland do you consider to be Russian? It must be dismaying for you to see so many people willing to join NATO and do whatever they can to blunt Russian invasions. Putler has done a great job in uniting NATO.

Of course, if the US supported India better, that side of the equation wouldn't be as difficult. India have a lot of people are not enough in the way of resources. China will do as China does. Right now, they aren't particularly happy with supporting Russia through this.

Yeah, Russia doesn't want NATO at their doorstep... and then committed acts that'll put NATO at their doorstep. Really stupid of them.

..."and that's why we are murdering and raping them, bombing their cities and stealing all their stuff".
Barbos, what are they feeding you? It seems to have taken a terrible toll on whatever mush remains between your ears.
