What precedent will prosecuting a former president set?

Yeah, they're all the same. Blah, blah, blah.
No they aren't all the same.... Carter, Truman, and Eisenhower (even JFK) were much different. Examples of the past having integrity not found anywhere today. That is the difference.

Today's criminal mafia we call federal government serving in Washington DC simply can not credibly provide justice for the other criminals serving in Washington. And that is the point, the whole point, and nothing but the point.

No one in our present day federal government has the credibility to carry out any sort of justice for a past POTUS. For such people doing this only looks entirely political, even if their actual motives might actually be true.
I disagree with you, but even for the sake of argument, that is no reason to let someone like Trump and his MORE corrupt government get off without and investigation and challenge for his clear, obvious and recorded on video wrongdoing.

None of the people you name has anywhere NEAR the issues that Trump has, and the carrying out of justice would not be by one person alone, increasing the integrity.

No amoount of overblown whataboutism can cover up, diminish or excuse the corruption and anti-American actions of Trump and his team.

Well that's certainly not hyperbolic. Out of curiosity, do you still believe Biden stole the election in 2020?

If memory serves, Obama was pretty damn clean. I mean there was dijon mustard-gate, but I think that was about it.

Yes... because the likes of William Tweed and President Harding and scandal only existed since the 1970s.

Especially after my point was that all living presidents (except possibly Carter) would have a personal reason to oppose such a thing?
This. And this answers the OP as well.

When you think about it, the "rule of law" is pretty useless in modern times when everyone is corrupt. And I mean everyone from Nancy Peloci to Mitch McConnel to Joe Biden. They all have integrity problems....all of them. No one in our present day federal government has the credibility to carry out any sort of justice for a past POTUS. For such people doing this only looks entirely political, even if their actual motives might actually be true.

Say what you will about Carter being in trouble for his incompetance. Even his enemies would not ever call him corrupt. There is a lot to be said about honorable people vs what we have now.
Well, America fired Carter for that actor Reagan, who then bankrupted America. The GOP voters would then select dodge drafting business failure simpleton George W. Bush over Senate maverick John McCain. They'd do even better sixteen years later in selecting a sexual assaulting philandering business failure over everyone else.

Nice try. There is no dirt on Joe Biden, but Donald Trump is so full of dirt that it spills out of his mouth, nose eyes, ears and asshole.
Best you can do is to try to equivocate having a son with a coke problem (which Donal does also) with a treasonous attempt at a violent overthrow of the US Government.
Nice try.
At least you got one thing right - nobody is accusing Jimmy Carter of being corrupt. But if Trump was running against him, he WOULD call Carter corrupt because any lie will do for his purposes.
By the way, RV, you forgot to answer:

DO YOU STILL BELIEVE THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WAS STOLEN?
Ignoring the question can be reliably taken as a "yes" answer, because nobody is ashamed of admitting they know the truth.

Jebus... I was thinking about the disaster assistance from President Biden for Florida, Kentucky, Missouri... and not a damn word out of the President about how he wouldn't get appreciated for this assistance... and talking about how that boat in someone's yard might be their's now... or tossing paper towels to natural disaster victims like it was Let's Make a Deal.

Or that time he saluted a marine with a cup of coffee in his hand. Can you imagine a President being so disrespectful to the troops? I'm not a racist but why the fuck was Obongo never impeached?

Huffpost is reporting that the FBI has staged a large raid on Mar-A-Lago. This seems to have happened Friday. No real details quite yet. But I suspect removal of classified documents from the White House probably is big part of this. Trumpo is predictably outraged. Send money.

The FBI raided former President Donald Trump’s Florida resort and home, Mar-A-Lago, he said Monday night.
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump said in a statement. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
The circumstances of the raid are unclear, but the Justice Department has been ramping up its investigations into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and Trump’s efforts to remain in power after he lost the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden.

Prosecutors have also reportedly homed in on Trump’s efforts to stay in power through widespread, and false, claims of voter fraud, as well as an effort to install slates of fake electors in battleground states that would circumvent the will of the people. The Washington Post reported last month that prosecutors had asked witnesses before grand juries detailed questions about meetings Trump held after his November, 2020 election loss and what instructions he gave his attorneys regarding the fake electors plan.

According to the "failing" New York Times, it's about the boxes of documents he swiped on his way out.

The immediate problem is the prosecution fails and Trump gets reelected. He will gut the justice department and FBI installing sycophants. He will go after people with a vengeance much like a 3rd world dictatorship. It would be Trump going after Biden.

Too many republicans will support Trump ad may even want a dictator that espouse their views.

Nixon underpresuure from republicans as well as democrats resigned to avoid prosecution and was pardoned by Ford. A public trial given the unrest of the day could have torn the country apart.

Proclamation 4311 was a presidential proclamation issued by president of the United States Gerald Ford on September 8, 1974, granting a full and unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon, his predecessor, for any crimes that he might have committed against the United States as president.

A lot of angry armed people. Given Jan 6 a public trial of Trump could have serious consequnces.

but why the fuck was Obongo never impeached?
^ That has to be the nagging question of all time. How the FUCK could that know nothing pretender get away with all that stuff and not be impeached? This has to be driving every conscientious patriot crazy.
First he stole the 2008 election, and fucked the entire economy, increased crime and let in every illegal he could for four years. So bad and everybody knew it. ... that's why he had to steal the 2012 election ... and just because Romney, just like that McCain coward, didn't have the cojones to mount an armed attack on the Capitol to prevent that illegal certification, we had another four years of wrecked economy, more wars and bringing America down.
Trump changed all that, and for one brief shining moment (after he fired Mike Flynn and before everyone else got fired, arrested and otherwise witch-hunted down) America was greater than ever before. So let's elect the guy whose palace was just raided by the FBI after a judge found probable cause to believe that evidence of a crime would be found there. Which proves that the FBI is just a tool of Hunter Biden, and once again the Democrats are trying to rig the election. But we're going to rise up, right?
At least that all is what I'm told.

Just saw a NBC interview with an ex-FBI head honcho of the Miami branch of the FBI. His assessment is that there must be some very strong evidence of wrong doing to raid Mar-A-Lago. Trump is complaining that the FBI opened his safe. The FBI was looking for something specific in his safe. The official FBI policy is to not comment on ongoing investigations. We might not know what this all about until after the grand jury passes its verdict and something goes to trial.
