DeSantis Flies Immigrants to Martha Vineyard

Wrong direction. They should fly them to Mexico City. Or maybe Rwanda.
Oh, look! An immigrant complaining about immigrants and immigration.
Oh, look! A guy who waited in line complaining about line-cutters. Oh, look! A guy who didn't have to wait in line because he got grandfathered in complaining about a guy who waited in line complaining about line-cutters. This is fun!

Do you have evidence these migrants didn't wait in line and therefore belong in Rwanda?

I think it is hypocritical for an immigrant who knowingly and habitually breaks the law to be disparaging refugees who have crossed our borders illegally.
If they cross the border, immediately turn themselves into INS, and apply for asylum, that is not illegal.
But it is stupid given how illegally they will be treated after doing so, and how nobody is in a position to enforce the illegality of their treatment.

Immigrants: I claim asylum
INS: What was that, I couldn't hear you over the sound of your face breaking as I tossed you back across the border.

You've never been within a hundred miles of El Paso, have you?

Well, I have, but what does it matter?

I used to live there. Went back and forth across the border on a weekly basis. I don't know who this Twitter account is you rely upon to spin your narrative about the city, but El Paso was not exactly a right wing "ship the Mexicans to DC" proposition when I lived there. YMMV.

:consternation1: Um, dude, exactly which part of "Democrat-led" didn't you understand? He was making the point that this isn't a right-wing issue. It's a local-community-overwhelmed-by-unfunded-federal-mandates issue.

That would have been a fair question for ZH to have asked Derec if he hadn't instead opted for an ad hominem; but it's not really material to my meta-commentary.

Since the complainant is no longer in line, your metacommentary is more than just a bit inept.

Shipping living beings off simply to make some pathetic "gotcha" says much more about Governors Abbott and Desantis than it does about the underlying issue.

What is truly ironic, is that both governors are really just "virtue signalling" to their tribes.

Meanwhile the Federal Government of Immigrants aren't dealing effectively with those that were here originally and their access to water out west, despite having the most senior rights to it, mainly because the immigrants want to look the other way while giving themselves more of the water.
Looks like somebody hasn't come up to speed on the latest developments in 19th century science yet. Newsflash: Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics is a refuted theory.

"Immigrant" is an acquired characteristic. It is not inheritable. All those born in the United States, the descendants of 12000-BC immigrants from Beringia and the anchor-babies born in 2022 to illegal entrants alike, were here originally.

I stipulate that my literary style is an acquired taste; but show your work. Why on earth would the complainant's ultimate arrival at the front of the line bear on the eptness of my metacommentary? You appear to be suggesting a personal characteristic of Derec renders his argument invalid. That's exactly the same ad hominem fallacy ZH committed; you merely fastened onto a different personal characteristic.

“What we’re doing is not to be compared to what’s going on in the state of Texas,” Leeser said. “We need to take politics out of what’s going on.”

OEM and Opportunity Center staff have been reaching out to the migrants on the streets, prioritizing taking women and children to hotels or shelters on Sun Metro buses if space becomes available. Other times, migrants are notified if there’s space on a charter bus.

Jocelyn, 38, sat on the sidewalk and leaned against an old phone booth outside the Greyhound station on Monday. She and her husband had been released to the streets at two different locations by border agents.

“He was dropped off somewhere else and came here to find me,” she said, adding she had been approached by a nonprofit volunteer and asked if she wanted to take a bus to New York City. “But we’re waiting on our daughter so we can go to San Antonio together.

So this isn't the same thing as Abbott and DeSantis plan of shoving unwitting immigrants onto buses and planes and shipping them off to unsuspecting cities and towns in "Democrat controlled" areas to score bullshit political points. This is the city working with other cities and willing immigrants to relocate them to places where they can get services.

Someone who is no longer in line really has little reason to complain about a linecutter.
You appear to be suggesting a personal characteristic of Derec renders his argument invalid.
No, I am suggesting your response is inept. I am suggesting that when someone who is no longer in line complains about a linecutter, it makes it seem more like whining than anything else.
That's exactly the same ad hominem fallacy ZH committed; you merely fastened onto a different personal characteristic.
I used your reference to a personal characteristic of Derec in my response. I guess that makes your argument an ad hom fallacy as well.

But wait...there's more!

But Maybe Not Cubans?

DeSantis' new plan is to ship anyone arriving in Florida to Delaware. Why Delaware? Because that's where President Biden is from! This is totally not political! Yet as the article points out, Cubans are a huge part of DeSantis' voter base. Will Cubans be shipped off? Mmm...maybe not.

a spokesperson for the Governor’s campaign later said Cubans coming to South Florida would be exempt.

See, Cubans are refugees fleeing communism. People who come here from Venezuela? Totally different!

What DeSantis has done has a rich American tradition, but don't bring it up in a Florida classroom. It might make white kids feel bad.

Reverse Freedom Rides

Reverse freedom rides were attempts in 1962 by southern segregationists to send African Americans from Southern cities to mostly Northern, and some western, cities by bus.[1][2] They were given free one-way bus tickets, and were promised guaranteed high paying jobs and free housing. Those promises were intended to lure African Americans in. In reality, there was no guaranteed free housing or jobs waiting for them. Some of those arriving were able to find work; most could not.[3]

Nice company you keep there, Ron.
