Young White Men Without College Are Dropping Out Of Work Force

Not in the countries that export manufacturing where the governent is pro-union (Germany).
Germany's trade union membership has been declining since at least 1960.
I stand corrected. So I guess Germany is also trying to join the ranks of the US of high wealth disparity and shrinking middle class.

Germany isn't 'trying' to do anything. The majority of German workers simply do not see the value in joining a union.

When I first started full time work, the induction session in my workplace included dedicated time for a union representative to talk to us. I was open to the idea of joining the union - until I saw the size of the membership fees. I made the decision that I did not want to pay that amount of money to join the union. The value prospect was not there.

Consumers don't care about unions - they care about availability, quality and price
Labor is a big part of the cost of the product and if you pay more for labor (unions) then all other things equal that directly decreases availability, quality and price.

They will when they discover they aren't making enough to cover a middle class existance anymore. It may take many years to happen but eventually lack of bargaining power for labor will seriously erode their wages. The US has been in its own process of de-unionizing labor slowly since Ronald Reagan days and most would agree the middle class is in far worse shape for this.

Wait, so that Union had nothing to do with any of your then current benefits and pay? I agree.

Why bother, when the government will pay for your kids?
I believe welfare systems in most all states requires mothers trying to get welfare must name the father and the government will go after the father to reduce the welfare amount the government pays.
You'd be wrong.
Tom
Do you have some verification of that?

And yet, nobody wants the unions. Despite unionized workers do much better.
The workers certainly want unions. It is the consumers who want something for nothing from China and other 3rd world countries who don't want unions in the US. And it is also our federal government (other than Trump) who will not provide tariff protections in order to keep those unions.
You do realize tariffs aren't paid by the country the tariffs are used against, right?

Tell us again how you don't support Trump. I need a good laugh.

I'm not sure what you mean?

But you were willing to take the pay and benefits the union fought for you to get.

The union didn't fight for me. It bargained on behalf of its members.

I took the pay and benefits that my employer offered.

I don’t think so:

FAMILY SUPPORT ACT OF 1988 (42 U.S.C. SECTION 666)

The Family Support Act of 1988 reformed the U.S. welfare system by emphasizing enforcement of child support orders against delinquent parents and expanded job training and educational opportunities to reduce parents' reliance on welfare.

Under the act, all states must include automatic wage attachments in new or modified child support orders, with few exceptions. The act also encourages states to use paternity tests to establish responsibility for child support, and requires the use of guidelines in making support awards. By 1995, states must develop automatic tracking and monitoring systems for parents not paying support. And because refusal to pay child support is often linked to frustrated visitation, the act funds projects to improve noncustodial parents' access to their children.

Workers do tend to want union. However, in the US, it is difficult to organize an union. Firms that help companies fight unions are extremely profitable. Companies typically have the upper hand in fighting against union organizing. And, of course, there is recent theocratically-driven SCOTUS ruling in Janus that makes public employee unions much more difficult to maintain.

Consumers don't care about unions - they care about availability, quality and price.
I actually am more inclined to purchase goods from a company that employs workers represented by a union.

Hi I paid Child support! Can confirm. When I finished I overpaid and the government had to cut me a check. My wife thought me a spectacle because I wanted to frame it. I'll share a picture of it after scrubbing personal information. I'm so proud of myself that I paid all my dues and kept a relationship with my daughter the whole time. Can't say I'm proud to have to had separated from her momma but that bitch was crazy.

I showed it off every chance I got. I paid for 17 years didn't miss a payment and was elated to get a check from them for once. lol

Reminds me of Two And A Half Men when Allen made a huge gameshow style check for his last alimony check to his wife.

The tariffs are the only thing that will work for unions, labor, and a middle class to survive in the US.. knowing this does not mean you have to be a Trump lover. But it does mean you have to go somewhere other than our 2 bought out and sold parties to make this happen.

How is it that you think tariffs work for middle class or any consumers? You get that tariff s raise prices on consumer goods, right? How does that help consumers?

So we all know that break ups and divorces are usually very contentious and painful, but everybody gets child support payments are for the benefit of the child, right?

And that long before they turn 18, kids figure out just how much resentment comes embedded in those checks and internalize that anger and resentment, right?

That’s not what you want, right? For your kid to think you you only supported them financially because you were forced to do so and not because you loved them?

Right?
