Yoga and Fascism

Do you have any links or anything you base this on? We like to blame all kinds of things on "the Nazis". Himmler was very active in creating a Nazi myth. The castle Wewelsburg was a centre for this. But much of what went on there was of little consequence outside Himmlers own head and the people he'd employed to create these myths. Which means uppermost echelons of the SS.

But it was all a bizarre mishmash of whatever sounded or looked cool. Their use of Norse runes has little to do with how these runes were used by the Vikings. It's just a big confusing soup.

Nazis were big on health and gymnastics. It makes perfect sense that they thought yoga could be useful. Do I think they understood, even the most basic concepts of real yoga? No, I do not.

I dislike Nazi mythmaking for the same reason I dislike LARPers. Just because something you do looks superficially similar (to the uninitiated) doesn't mean you are nailing it.

Which just goes to show that the Nazis were ahead of their time; And that adherence to meaningless woo and the use of mind-altering drugs is a good way to reinforce your beliefs, but leads to nothing new.

Woo + Drugs + Anti-War campaigns = Hippies

Woo + Drugs + Pro-War campaigns = Nazis

The Nazis just got there two decades earlier than the hippies.

They did drugs? As far as I know the only drugs they were big on was morphine and amphetamine.

Nazism is essentialy a purity cult. They tended to have strong opinions on anything hampering peak efficiency.

What have we here? A man with poor taste in neckwear, pointing at a painting. It appears he is imparting some knowledge about the said painting to the photographer. How delightful. One can only hope that the photographer is taking note of the gentleman's keen eye for art; for I am sure this gentleman has a wealth of knowledge to impart about that masterpiece. Charming, simply charming.​
 
I was more interested in modern facsim's fascination with yoga.

It's also a lie, as far as trans people are concerned. WPATH guidelines indicate the minimum age for vaginoplasty is 18.

The only vaginoplasties in the US performed on folks younger than 18 are done "reconstructively", generally on infants. This is most often performed as an act of barbarism committed by folks trying to "conform" an intersexed genital into a vagina form, or as is described crassly by a TV show with doctors in it echoing dimly from my memory, "it's easier to dig a hole than build a pole."

If I recall, the plot attached to that was in discussion of a person born intersexed who was castrated and mutilated against their will as an infant to conform their genitals to something "normal looking", and then given estrogen because it was easier than explaining why someone with an apparent vagina was to be prescribed testosterone.

In fact the laws that ban hormone modification for kids passing as an effort of the ADF actually have an explicit carve-out so that doctors can still mutilate intersexed kids.

My current girlfriend is intersex. She's neither man or woman. She’s explained that they tend to go for presenting as women because they tend to read as women. But she hasn't got the "female machinery" so she can't have kids.

She eats oestrogen to push herself more into being feminine.

Pretty cool.

If she hadn't told me I would never have guessed. She looks and acts very feminine indeed

It's weird. I was looking into the forum considering a post discussing the history of eunuchs in the world and the relationship that has with the common image of the vizier, sorcerer, royal advisor, and thinker that informed the archetype of the "wizard" throughout time.

But then I got distracted by what the fuck yoga had to do with Nazis and it turned out to be an attempt at using revisionist history within the Third Reich to actually commit cultural appropriation, and doubly confused at whatever the fuck GRS could have to do with that, googled whqt they were talking about, as far as to who was recommending surgery so young, and found out that the point itself was a DARVO.

What fascination?

Yoga is everywhere, at least what is called yoga. If I search on yoga in Seattle I'd get hundreds of hits. It is pop culture fascination with what they think is a mysterious eastern practice.

Back in th 7s for a few weeks I got uo up early inthe morning and walked over to an American Sikh convert ashram-house and did their rituals with them. Turned out to be a cult following a ;guru' in India. Kundalini yoga.

I can remember it. One ritual was sitting on the floor and touching thumb to fingertips while chanting sa-ta-na-ma.

I went trough a lot of that stuff in the 70s and moved past it. Transcendental Mediation, anoter westernized mass marketed Indian radiation.

 
It also cures bad breath and prevents cavities.
