I don't pay any attention to celebrity stuff, so I have no idea if she was having issues or not, but Michelle Trachtenberg passed away at the age 39. She, among this board, is likely most well known as the out of no where sister of Buffy Summers in Season Five. She'd continue in the show until it ended... twice. She apparently has other acting credits. Most who followed the show expected James Marsters to go first as he was in his mid-80s when he started the show.

Don't know what she died of, but she recently had a liver transplant, so it could be complications from that. The news was pretty surprising to hear.

Name sounds familiar but do not recognize the face. I've never watched anything she was in. But RIP.

She was also in season 7 of Weeds as Nancy's competitor. Wow, that came out of the blue.

I don't know who she is either.

In other death news, Gene Hackman and his wife and dog were all found dead yesterday in their Santa Fe home. But they're saying "no foul play". Whaaaaa? So, was it something like CO poisoning? Weird.

Probably CO.

The funny thing is, in the first watching of Season Five, even the most diehard Buffy fan had the same reaction as you noted above.

I had dismissed the show as something I wouldn't find interesting. Around Season Six or Seven live, I caught an episode from Season Three in syndication and was almost instantly hooked. Bester (B5) is my favorite all-time tv villain. But The Mayor in Season Three was quite something else. Trachtenberg's character was so annoying, which was odd for a Whedon production.

New evidence has turned up prompting an investigation. The front door was unsecured and open. Two live dogs were there. There was an open pill bottle with pills scattered around (don't know what the pills were).

Sounds suspicious. Dog was in a closet. link

article said:
The responding deputy believes the heater “could have fallen in the event the female abruptly fell to the ground.” The pills from the bottle were “scattered on the counter-top,” it says. A German shepherd was found about 10 feet from her in a closet in the bathroom.
Two other dogs alive, one was in the bathroom with the deceased. Both people fell, sounds like poisoning.
