LA Riots 2025

Anyone else notice how these ICE guys look like BarneyKKKFife rather than pros recently?

Those ICE agents looks like recently deputized Proud Boys rather than professional law enforcement.

Don't be stupid. It's not becoming. They have been hampered from doing their jobs for years and stuck with overtime doing shit paperwork anti to their mission. They are long term federal employees with decades of experience turned loose to fulfill their initial purpose.

Trivialize them if you want. Won't gain you any new supporters when they support the Rs.

Wouldn't surprise me if they are union.

I’m not trivializing them. Their low level of training and willingness to do cruel and illegal things on order makes them extra dangerous.

It's this kind of overkill that people don't like. It's not a criminal offense to be in the US illegally. You'd think these assholes just caught Bonnie and Clyde.

That looks like an attempted car jacking really. My sheriff says we are supposed to be able to mame people for spitting and our governor says to kill people that obstruct your car.

Most likely the windshield was previously shattered by rioters throwing rocks, etc and the cops are breaking it out completely so they can at least drive it and see where they're going. No need to start creating conspiracy theories here.
And yet you did.

A brave statement to make in uniform.
She'll be behind bars in 3... 2...
She might be. She has not been on active duty since 2020, and there are specific rules regarding the wearing of your uniform as a former service member:

Anti-ICE protester wearing Army fatigues in video isn't active duty

According to "DOD Instruction 1334.01 Wearing of the uniform," former service members may wear their uniform during specified activities or occasions. The directive did not list protests as a specified activity.

The directive also said that retired service members must not wear their uniform "during or in connection with furthering political activities, private employment, or commercial interests, when an inference of official sponsorship by DoD or the Military Service concerned for the activity or interest may be drawn."

Likewise, "Directive 1344.10 on Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces" says that members not on active duty "should avoid inferences that their political activities imply or appear to imply official sponsorship, approval, or endorsement."

Fucking hell, Trump's thugs really hate Australian journalists named Lauren apparently.

The comments come after ABC North America Correspondent Lauren Day revealed she had been tear-gassed, and footage showed Nine News correspondent Lauren Tomasi being shot with a rubber bullet.

From the same BlueSky thread where I saw the interview of Alex Padilla.

It is reminding me of the "Whatever it takes" torture mentality in the W Admin. The hands have been untied and this is normalizing bad behavior and tactics (particularly when it is heralded). Some of these people start thinking they have a calling, not an occupation... and then consequences stop mattering as much.

As someone noted, a moment like V for Vendetta might occur, and some kid is killed by some Cartman. We already saw an officer shoot a reporter with a rubber bullet, intentionally.

We continue to float in uncharted waters. This can blow over, Newsom could be in prison in a month, or somewhere in between. Fact remains, Trump lacks the capacity to occupy America. Our military couldn't occupy Iraq. So there are limitations and how they express their domination would need to be surgical. Miller and the others running the show seem up to the task. Time will tell.

Trump ordered to deliver to deliver CA national guard back to governor.
This is where the rubber hits the road.

Crazy prediction: Trump's going to completely ignore it.
Appeals court pauses ruling.

Just a couple hours after a federal judge had ordered President Trump to relinquish control of the California National Guard saying he had violated the U.S. Constitution, an appeals court put the order on hold until a hearing on an appeal can be held Tuesday.
Tuesday?!

Court Automated Message: We're sorry, your Constitutional Crisis is important to us, however, we are busy handling other cases. Please hold and someone will get to you... eventually.

I'm getting sick and tired of how recently the appellate courts continue providing cover for Trump. You'd think the courts would err on the side of not tyranny... and the Exec Branch needs to justify their near unprecedented actions.

Especially when the White House has been using this damn mantra over and over.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said in a statement that an appeal was coming and that Breyer "has no authority to usurp the President's authority as Commander in Chief," according to the Associated Press. "The President exercised his lawful authority to mobilize the National Guard to protect federal buildings and personnel in Gavin Newsom's lawless Los Angeles.

Freedom from fake information is definitely important and vigilance is critical! X'ter sucks for context.

But why in the heck would they drive a car without a windshield?! This isn't mad max... these aren't actually riots when the officers are finding themselves in imminent danger for their lives and need to be able to flee at a moments notice. The car can be towed. The car can be left behind.

If they're going to be driving it they'll be sitting on a seat full of broken glass. Not to mention driving with a broken windshield is illegal.
