Attacks on ICE in Texas

Ten charged with attempted murder after allegedly ambushing Texas Ice agents
Grauniad said:
Ten people have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly ambushing US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) agents in Texas on 4 July.
Federal prosecutors said attackers drew the agents out of an Ice detention center in Alvarado, Texas, with fireworks and by vandalizing vehicles. They allegedly shot a police officer in the neck and unloaded between 20 and 30 rounds on immigration agents, and were later apprehended by local law enforcement near the scene.
“It was a planned ambush with the intent to kill Ice correction officers,” said Nancy Larson, US attorney for the northern district of Texas, at a press conference on Monday. “Make no mistake, this was not a so-called peaceful protest – it was indeed an ambush.”
Larson said the assailants began shooting fireworks outside the Prairieland Ice Detection Center, about an hour south of Dallas in Alvarado, Texas, at approximately 10.37pm. The fireworks drew agents outside and found the group spray painting vehicles with “Ice pig”, “traitor” and “other profanity”, according to Larson.
A gunman, who was positioned in the woods away from the group, then fired a shot at a local police officer who was also on the scene and hit him in the “neck area”, Larson said. She added that a second gunman unloaded between 20 and 30 rounds on Ice corrections officers, who she said were unarmed.

In a separate incident in McAllen, TX (close to the Mexico border and almost 500 miles away from Alvarado, TX) an anti-ICE shooter got iced himself.
Shooter killed after 3 injured at U.S. Border Patrol building in Texas
CBS News said:
A shooter opened fire at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen, Texas, on Monday morning, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said.
Border Patrol agents and local police helped "neutralize" the shooter, according to the spokesperson. Border Patrol's Rio Grande Valley Sector, which has six stations along the border, reported that the person is dead.
The shooter was identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, who had an assault rifle and was carrying a utility vest, McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said Monday. Agents had returned fire and killed him, Rodriguez said.
Two officers and a Border Patrol employee were injured, with one of them shot in the knee, the DHS spokesperson said, adding that they went to the hospital.

No matter how you feel about illegal immigration, ICE in general, or ICE tactics since Trump took over, this type of stuff is not acceptable.
Of course it’s reprehensible—and totally predictable.

But I must point out that masked persons assumed to be ICE —but not verified as some agents or ‘agents’ are masked and refuse to identify themselves are simply abducting people they believe to be illegal immigrants, including children who may or may not have been born here and who may or may not have serious medical conditions and also legal immigrants showing up for scheduled appointments with courts and immigration, including people who are going to their swearing in ceremony—not to mention actual US citizens.

It is predictable because it is sketchy AF, and also because ‘agents’ are grabbing people to make quotas without regard to whether they are here legally or not. People are angry at the cruelty and the barbarity of these actions at the behest of the US government—you and me. I do not approve or agree.

Of course it is predictable. Far left often engages in violence. See 2020 George Floyd riots. Or the violence intended to stop the public service training center in Atlanta, where a state trooper was shot in the abdomen by the far-left activist Manuel "Tortugita" Teran.

I do not agree with recent ICE tactics either. But the reason the pendulum has swung so far this way is that immigration enforcement has been lacking for decades. Even many Republicans were too understanding of illegal migration. Remember ¡Jeb! Bush, who infamously called illegal migration "an act of love".

It is similar to Europe. Far-right parties like AfD in Germany and National Rally in France have grown popular mostly because of failures of mainstream parties to do anything about mass migration, mostly by Muslims from places like Afghanistan and Syria. That leads to alienation because Europe is getting increasingly islamicized.

No, the reason there is so much violence at the hands of ICE at the present time is NOT that immigration enforcement has been lacking. In fact, both Biden and Obama administrations deported large numbers of undocumented immigrants.

The reason there is so much violence is because it sows fear, as it is intended to do.

The reasons that there are so many undocumented immigrants is that it is financially and economically beneficial to have a nearly infinite source of cheap labor that is not in a position to complain about pay or work conditions

The current administration is doing its very best to sow as much fear and distrust—period. Particularly for any out group: persons of color, women, migrants regardless of immigration status or citizenship, LGBTQ+ individuals, university campuses, anyone who speaks out against any US policy. Masked armed strangers abducting individuals based upon their color, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status are masked to increase fear.

Immigration, like abortion rights and trans rights are hot button/red meat issues that can be exploited to arouse fears and outrage. Which is why the GOP refused to allow passage of a bipartisan bill to help solve some of the problems of immigration.

In that case, the American War of Independence was unacceptable, as was the Stauffenberg plot.
There has to be a point when revolution and assassination become just responses by oppressed peoples.
Shooting at ICE agents in unlike both of these.
Note that the far left has been against ICE and immigration enforcement in general long before Trump's reelection.
But these fools (they clearly didn't have an adequate plan) were shooting at Gestapo.

It sounds to me like ICE thugs were parinoid and over-reacting.

Sereiously? They responded to fireworks on the 4th of July, in Texas?
An ambush??

So sombody, still at large, got pissed off and shot at the masked ICE thugs carrying guns. And they arrest the partyers?
How much did the ICE have to drink that night?
ICE hasseled folks celebrating the 4th. Some Texan (as opposed to a calafornian) got pissed off and shot at ice.
Look at the photos: 9 partyers and one homeless guy.

A Texas court would throw it out.

Derec, the Federal Government is disappearing people. Little to no due process. I find the violence against ICE agents unjustifiable.

However, as some people have noted, people should be expected to react to such unethical, illegal actions.

Technically, we were doing just fine, though border towns/cities needed help with the influx of people under Biden, which was likely in response to the tougher crossing during Trump's first term. What Trump is doing is going to harm the US economy, we aren't benefiting from this. So it is harm for harm's sake by the Stephen Miller SS wannabes.

Biden was following the laws we had on the books. He was bound by them. That's why the new legislation to help relieve the problem was such a big deal. But Trump put the kibosh on that for his campaign.

It is not acceptable but it is predictable.
I predicted something like this weeks ago.
Do you think it is "predictable" because the far left has shown a penchant for violence in the past, especially during the 2020 race riots, and also during the violent opposition to building the public safety training center (aka "Cop City") in Atlanta?
“Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

“If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously, okay? Just knock the hell—I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise.”

“I would bring back waterboarding. And I’d bring back a hell of a lot worse than waterboarding.”

“I’d like to punch him in the face.”

“They said to me, ‘What do you think of waterboarding?’ I said, ‘I think it’s great, but I don’t think we go far enough.’ It’s true, it’s true—right? We don’t go far enough. We don’t go far enough.”

“I think you’d have riots.”
March 16, 2016, on what would happen if he wasn’t nominated at the upcoming Republican National Convention

“You also had people that were very fine people on both sides.”

“Any guy that can do a body slam, he is my guy!”

“I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump—I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”

“When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

“Can’t you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?”

“And I’ll tell you something—that’s the way it has to be. There has to be retribution when you have crime like this.”

“I don’t ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ care that they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me.”

“Get smart Republicans. FIGHT!”

“You’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.”

“Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!”
January 6, 2021, in a tweet, while rioters at the Capitol were chanting “Hang Mike Pence”

“We love you. You’re very special. You’ve seen what happens. You see the way others are treated that are so bad and so evil. I know how you feel. But go home, and go home in peace.”
January 6, 2021, in a video message to the insurrectionists at the Capitol

“You tell the reporter, ‘Who is it?’ And the reporter will either tell you or not. And if the reporter doesn’t want to tell you, it’s bye-bye, the reporter goes to jail. And when the reporter learns that he’s going to be married in two days to a certain prisoner that’s extremely strong, tough and mean, he will say, ‘You know’ … I think I’m going to give you the information.’”

“I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?”

“IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”

“This is an act so egregious that, in times gone by, the punishment would have been DEATH.”

“Very simply, if you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store. Shot.”

“We pledge to you that we will root out the Communists, Marxists, fascists, and the radical-left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country, that lie and steal and cheat on elections … The threat from outside forces is far less sinister, dangerous, and grave than the threat from within. Our threat is from within.”

“They’re poisoning the blood of our country.”

“Free the January 6 Hostages being wrongfully imprisoned!”

“If I don’t get elected … it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”

“Well, revenge does take time. I will say that. And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil, I have to be honest.”

“In Colorado, they’re so brazen, they’re taking over sections of the state. And you know, getting them out will be a bloody story. They should have never been allowed to come into our country. Nobody checked them.”

“If you had one really violent day … one rough hour—and I mean real rough—the word will get out, and it will end immediately.”
September 29, 2024, proposing a violent crackdown by police to deal with crime, during a rally in Pennsylvania

“I always say, we have two enemies … We have the outside enemy, and then we have the enemy from within, and the enemy from within, in my opinion, is more dangerous than China, Russia, and all these countries … We have some very bad people; we have some sick people, radical-left lunatics. And it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by the National Guard—or, if really necessary, by the military.”

“It is the enemy from within. And they’re very dangerous—they’re Marxists and Communists and fascists … They’re dangerous for our country. We have China, we have Russia, we have all these countries. If you have a smart president, they can all be handled. The more difficult are, you know, the Pelosis, these people, they’re so sick; they’re so evil.”

“That was a day of love from the standpoint of the millions—it’s like, hundreds of thousands—it could’ve been the largest group I’ve ever spoken before.”
