It looks like they're going for the version of the Ultron story I'm hoping to see.


Stark (instead of Pym) creates a robot named Ultron to save the world. Ultron decides that the only way to bring peace is to get rid of the thing that keeps ending the peace: humans. Ultron is flawed because he's more human than he wants to admit, and like his own creator, he creates his own downfall via hubris when he creates Vision.



I can hardly wait!
 
I'm really looking forward to this. Whedon could hardly have done the first Avengers movie any better. So the second one has equally high standards. Based on the success of the first film, the studio hopefully keeps their hands off of his projects.
 
Looks great, my butt will be in the movie theater on May 1st for sure.


I'm not all excited that it is Stark instead of Pym who created Ultron, but with how they are doing the Antman movie, I think that was already a foregone conclusion. I was wondering who's eye they were zooming in on at the end, kudos for catching that it was Vision. Even though we only get to see part of his face, it is pretty apparent that Vision is getting a costume redesign, which he desperately needs.

 
Honestly, I would have preferred it if...


...they made Vision look more robot-like. It makes more sense in a live action movie as I think audiences would have a harder time buying into the whole synthezoid technology thing. Not too many summer blockbuster sci-fi movies deal with that kind of thing, so it'll look out of place, but yeah, I'm happy to see Vision. Huge spoiler: the Vision's voice is being done by the same actor who does J.A.R.V.I.S.



As I mentioned in a previous thread, I was worried about how they would handle the villain. Some Marvel villains are very sympathetic and compelling (Loki, Winter Soldier), while others are just one-dimensional "I'm bad because I'm bad" puppy-kickers like Ronan (that character should not have been treated that way). I was worried that they would do the one-dimensional thing, but this interview:

...suggests that they're deliberately going for a more sympathetic Loki-like approach with Ultron.


Ultron genuinely wants to do good and genuinely wants to make the world a better place. He just happens to decide that the only way to have peace is to get rid of all humans. The Evans interview suggests that they make his rationalization understandable, complex, and compelling. I should have trusted Whedon.



Also...


...one huge difference between the Avengers and the Justice League is that the Avengers have a smaller, constantly rotating roster. If I'm reading between the lines of this interview correctly, we're going to have a shakeup in the team by the end of the movie.



Oh, and...


...they'll have no choice but to start setting up the story for Black Panther. While Black Panther himself may not appear in the movie, they're going to have to at least mention Wakanda some way some how to explain how Ultron gets his hands on that much vibranium.




They better get the Vision story right. It has to be Ultron's hubris that leads to Vision turning on him. If the Vision is going to be voiced by the JARVIS actor, I'm worried that means Vision will be something built by Stark, but Vision's betrayal means so much more if Ultron is Vision's creator. I guess I'm just going to have to trust Whedon.

And yeah, no way would


...Vision's normal costume design even work in live action. I still wish they went for a more robot-like appearance.

Agreed. Although I loved the Guardians movie, I think Ronan was presented badly. Ronan traditionally skirts the line between good guy/ bad guy, and it is usually just a matter of perspective. The movie presented him as a one dimensional evil villain.

Seems legit.


I have heard that Chris Evans will not be returning in the role of Cap after the Civil War movie. They will need someone new to head the team, and with Marvel using Scott Lang for the Ant Man movie, I think Black Panther is the more likely candidate. If we do see him in this movie, it will probably just be a quick cameo at the end.

those of us familiar with the Civil War storyline know exactly why Chris Evans won't be coming back after Captain America 3. Sadface.
