I wonder why Paul said that circumcision wasn't necessary but adultery, stealing, murder, lying, etc, are immoral? I think circumcision was considered "ceremonial" rather than "moral". It has to do with being God's people in the old covenant.

You either don't know what he meant or you can't explain it. He says the perfect man is both male and female, a statement, which, by itself, doesn't carry any freight whatsoever. He says woman is already complete, because (guessing here) she has both a birth canal and a clitoris. But the man is not "complete" until circumcision, after which -- somehow -- he is both male and female: "the male sex organ then assumes the form of the female sex organ."
This is not making a clear case. It's just plain odd. Either he is just squeamish about specifying what he is talking about, or it's just flapdoodle. This is your favorite philosopher. Do you really understand what he is saying? I'm too bored to continue.

The basic idea behind it, and all of religion, is that no one, anywhere, should ever enjoy any part of life. Pleasure is for the next life. Suffering and pain is the best you can have in this life.

Us humans for all of our history create habits and rituals for all sorts of reasons. Tattoos, body mutilations. Clitoral circumcise, clit is cut off to lessen sexual pleasure for women.

The penis serves two purposes. Sex and attenuation of fluid waste. God;s brilliant dual use design, combining a pleasure center with piratical waste disposal.

As I remember it the clit does have a sheath. The clit comes to attention like the penis.
