Circumcision and you

I wonder why Paul said that circumcision wasn't necessary but adultery, stealing, murder, lying, etc, are immoral? I think circumcision was considered "ceremonial" rather than "moral". It has to do with being God's people in the old covenant.

^Waton makes his case clear enough in the quotations I provided.
You either don't know what he meant or you can't explain it. He says the perfect man is both male and female, a statement, which, by itself, doesn't carry any freight whatsoever. He says woman is already complete, because (guessing here) she has both a birth canal and a clitoris. But the man is not "complete" until circumcision, after which -- somehow -- he is both male and female: "the male sex organ then assumes the form of the female sex organ."
This is not making a clear case. It's just plain odd. Either he is just squeamish about specifying what he is talking about, or it's just flapdoodle. This is your favorite philosopher. Do you really understand what he is saying? I'm too bored to continue.

Us humans for all of our history create habits and rituals for all sorts of reasons. Tattoos, body mutilations. Clitoral circumcise, clit is cut off to lessen sexual pleasure for women.

The penis serves two purposes. Sex and attenuation of fluid waste. God;s brilliant dual use design, combining a pleasure center with piratical waste disposal.

Humans as we are. I'd guess the original circumcisions s were about sex. Tribal, niothjing with deep philosophical meaning.

As I remember it the clit does have a sheath. The clit comes to attention like the penis.

Yes, the clitoris has a sheath, which is also known as the clitoral hood, or prepuce
. This protective fold of skin covers the glans (the visible tip) and the external shaft of the clitoris.

From what I read on the net the Jews probably got circumcision for Egypt. I'd go with a tribal male right of passage. For Hebrews a right of passage into the male patriarchal club.

Circumcision was practiced in ancient Egypt as a religious and social ritual, with male circumcision possibly originating as a substitute for human sacrifice or as a rite of passage, as shown in a tomb relief from ~2300 BCE. The practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) also has deep roots in Pharaonic Egypt, though it is a different practice involving different types of genital cutting or removal. While male circumcision continues in Egypt, particularly among Christians, FGM is now illegal but continues to be practiced.

Jews perform circumcisions in the context of a Brit Milah ceremony, which occurs on the eighth day after a baby's birth, symbolizing a covenant with God. Historically, a communal circumcision took place at Gibeath Haaraloth after the Exodus, and Abraham was circumcised in Canaan. The procedure is performed by a trained ritualistic circumciser, or mohel, in a home or festive setting, marking the child's formal entry into the Jewish community.

Just with my general overview of religion and mythology the ancient Jews do not seem to be very original.
