I wish Facebook would filter all the fake accounts or attach a big fat disclaimer. I swear that most comments to news articles are bots with a smattering of trolls and few real people. But the platforms have always preferred bullshit for clicks over anything truthful or real.

It is also possible it is just VPN related. Put them into the VPNs in order to make thousands (tens of thousands?) of "users" in one server look like they are coming from other places to avoid spam detectors.

The issue likely isn't that their locations aren't in the US, it is that they aren't even people.

I reject all new user applications if they use a vpn. There's no way to background check them.
