Charlie Kirk shot in Utah

The dipshit went looking for trouble and he found it. Unfortunately, people ended up dead because of it. He is a low IQ vigilante praised by the right rather portrayed than as the severely disturbed kid that he was/is. Any asshole who goes about waving a gun in any situation, let alone a during a heated protest is provocative. Where is the right's "personal responsibility" bullshit on this one? ... Bah, hypocrisy is their stock and trade.

If you are talking about Rosenbaum, then yes. He was a dumb motherfucker who was the one seeking trouble throughout that night.
It went south for him when he attacked somebody armed. Fuck around, find out, as they say.

Ritt was armed, yes, but he wasn't waving his gun around. Nor is there any evidence he was "severely disturbed". Again, all this fits your boy Rosenbaum the Pedo. He had just been released from a mental institution, and could not stay with his fiancée Kariann Swart because he had beaten her up before. So he was a mentally disturbed, violent person.
And in fact, had Rosenbaum not attacked Ritt, none of this would have happened.

What is your opinion of all the heavily armed #BLM/Antifa types who were common during 2020? In few cities, e.g. Atlanta, Seattle and Minneapolis, they took over and held territory with armed force. In Atlanta, one of them murdered an 8 year old girl. But no, a 17 year old who was attacked by a deranged felon and defended himself is the real problem here. While the actions of the rioters in Kenosha and elsewhere are just "peaceful protesting". :rolleyesa:

#BLM held territory with armed force in Minneapolis? Are you refering to the riot? If so, that seems an intellectually dishonest characterization.

If Rittenhouse was just walking through the crowd unarmed, his life likely would never have been in danger.
:cautious: If she hadn't been wearing such a short skirt she wouldn't have gotten herself raped?
That is pathetic! Are you for real? The parallel fails on several fronts. Most importantly, the issue of the third party HARMING the first party. Your ridiculous rape comment would be the exact opposite of that. A woman third party that is standing somewhere is generally not going to be considered a threat to someone's life. Where as a person who fits the profile of many many mass shooters open carrying a rifle can reasonably be considered threatening.
You're quite literally excusing the assault of a minor on the grounds that the minor brought it on himself by having shown poor judgement. Your logic is the same logic used to excuse assaults of women on the grounds that the woman brought it on themselves by having shown poor judgement.
It's called a false equivalence, which your kind <Removed by Moderator> are quite fond of. There's nothing threatening about clothing. There is something threatening about carrying an assault rifle. There, just destroyed your false equivalence with 2 seconds of basic critical thought <Removed by Moderator>.
It doesn't even reach the level of false equivalence. That usually involves two situations that have differing significance, outcome, or magnitude being falsely portrayed as similar to one another.

Emily Lake's post was equating a person justifying raping a third party due to what she is wearing with a person finding an openly armed third person alarming. Her statement is ridiculous, as well as minimizes sexual assault as an argumentative tool for cheap points. Pathetic!

My comments are bad but it's totally OK to insinuate someone is OK with sexual assault of minors. That is just part of civil discussion.
That's not what happened here though. Nobody insinuated anyone here is OK with sexual assault of minors. One member insinuated another member was okay with a non-sexual assault of a minor. The sexual assault was in a hypothetical example for the sake of argument. The implication of the argument wasn't "You'd be okay with the sexual example too."; it was "You know how you wouldn't be okay with the sexual example? Well, you ought to think about the non-sexual case the same way.".

As to whether that sort of argument is more OK in civil discussion than your comments, I won't venture an opinion since I didn't see your comments.

No, it didn't. It indicated that Rittenhouse was accosted because he was open carrying a rifle which caused alarm, which is a perfectly normal reaction to seeing a person open carrying a rifle among a crowd, seeing the difference between a good guy with a gun and bad guy with a gun is pretty much too late.

Emily Post decided to use sexual assault to make it seem unusual and unreasonable to find an open carrying person in a crowd alarming and actionable.

If the idiot wouldn't have gone there in the first place none of this happens. Also he had no reason to go and had no right to own a firearm. "Waving around a gun" and brandishing is the same thing.

Your whataboutism doesn't fly. Your pal "Ritt" didn't know anything about who he killed. He wasn't on a mission to save the world from a bad person. He was on an idiot's mission to be a vigilante.

I said nothing about anything having to do with destructive actions committed by assholes who just wanted free stuff via looting, so I would appreciate it if you would stop putting your irrelevant thoughts into what I write.

*Someone explains exactly what's wrong with a statement*

Right wingers: "nuh uh!"

I would appreciate it if you would stop putting your irrelevant thoughts into what I write.
B-b-but that would leave the intellectual cripple without their crutch.
HAVE YOU NO COMPASSION???!!!
Sadly, I've lost my tolerance for egregious whataboutisms and getting sucked into bad faith arguments with people whose only intention is to waste the time of the person arguing in good faith. It saves so much aggravation.

The shocking phenomenon is that it's usually Trumpites who can't get enough of putting their fingers in their ears while shouting at the person they're supposedly having a "discussion" with.

It's why I quite happily spend the holidays alone.

That Rittenhouse showed supremely poor judgement isn't really in question. I've yet to interact with anyone who doesn't think he should have stayed home, or at a minimum shouldn't have been armed. That's not in dispute.

What is in dispute, however is whether Rittenhouse having made a poor decisions deprives him of the right to self defense.
Does the fact that his "poor judgement" consisted of threatening people with a gun come into this equation? Openly carrying a firearm is a threatening behaviour, in a way that wearing a short skirt most certainly is not.
I'm sure it seems unquestionably threatening to you... but for many americans who grew up around hunters and farmers it's not threatening in and of itself.

It's also irrelevant. Rittenhouse could have been standing there yelling epithets and it still wouldn't deprive him of the right to self defense when attacked.

How many of the protesters and rioters were armed, openly so? Do you also believe that those people should be stripped of the ability to defend themselves if someone decided that their guns were threatening?

This is the thing, bilby. I don't believe that you - or most of the posters in this thread - actually genuinely believe that Rittenhouse was the aggressor and that Rosenbaum was only acting defensively. Rather, I think that you oppose Rittenhouse's political views, and because you oppose his beliefs, you feel that he deserved whatever happened to him. I genuinely think that if Rosenbaum had got hold of him and strangled him to death, you'd be just fine with that because you believe that Rittenhouse was on the wrong side. I believe that many of the posters in this thread are perfectly willing to see "the enemy" physically injured or killed, because you think your beliefs are the right beliefs and those that contradict your beliefs are therefore evil.

On the other hand, traveling to a riot with a rifle is a definition of looking for trouble.
Therefore, any of the rioters who were armed deserved to be killed? Or is it only the people opposed to the rioters who are looking for trouble to such an extent that they no longer have a right to defend themselves?

Ems is was at the back of the line when they handed out reasoning abilities. False equivalences, interjections of subjective impressions as material to arguments... it's all of a piece. A stupid piece, but there it is.

 Nuh-uh, you're the dummy! Pthbthbthbthb!!!!!

Seriously, at least try to address the argument instead of just insulting me.

Emily Lake's post was equating a person justifying raping a third party due to what she is wearing with a person finding an openly armed third person alarming.
Nah. It was an observation of the logic of your argument. The actual logical framing of your position is the same - it's blaming the victim for having caused their own victimization, and opining that if they just hadn't done something, they wouldn't have gotten themselves hurt.

Jimmy, the form of your argument is identical to victim blaming someone who was raped.

Betty was accosted because she was wearing a short skirt, which caused arousal, which is a perfectly normal reaction to seeing a hot chick in revealing clothes.

Now let's counter that - Being aroused by a hot chick in revealing clothes may be a normal reaction; but acting upon that arousal with aggression is NOT an acceptable response. Similarly, being alarmed by an armed person may very well be a normal reaction; but chasing down and attacking that person is NOT an acceptable response. The woman attacked by an aroused man has every right to defend herself against an aggressor. Similarly, an armed person who is chased and attacked by an alarmed person has every right to defend himself against an aggressor.

Rosenbaum was the aggressor - he instigated an altercation that need not have happened. He could have just walked on by and there'd be no news and no discussion. He could have stayed home, and arguably he should have stayed home. But he didn't - he decided to go to a riot, then he decided to chase, corner, and attack a teen with a firearm. Those are decisions that Rosenbaum made.

At the other end of the situation is Grosskreutz (which is a pain to spell, so I'm going to abbreviate to GG). GG didn't see the beginning of the altercation, and from his perspective he was trying to contain an active shooter. I think GG was acting in good faith, making the best decision available to him on limited information. The sad part is that from a rational and objective point of view, understanding that Rittenhouse had just been physically attacked and chased, and understanding that GG hadn't witnessed those initial events, both of them were make reasonable decisions that an average prudent person in that situation would be likely to make.

If the idiot wouldn't have gone there in the first place none of this happens. Also he had no reason to go and had no right to own a firearm.

Nobody said that. Not a one. You're making things up in your head and then assigning those fictions to others.

I own 14 different guns. I'm bummed that I missed deer and elk season this year.

Now that that's cleared up, if I saw some motherfucker slinking around my town strapped with any kind of gun, let alone an AR, I wouldn't think he was just in town picking up donuts for the local lodge because 1) nobody but the biggest assholes (IMO) hunt large game with an AR, 2) there's no reason to be carrying one around just for the hell of it, and 3) it's the weapon of choice for mass shooters.

ARs are the best guns for killing people. That's precisely what they were designed to do. The only other thing they're good for are disposing of feral hogs. And since there's no feral hog packs running around in any city, that leaves one thing an AR is good for.

They had the canopy that Kirk was shot under at the last rally for photo ops by fans.
