California Doing California Things

It's not about abandoning minority demographics, but rather about not abandoning whites/men.
I have no notes. This is a refreshingly honest summary of what Republicans are truly, and exclusively, motivated by.

Colonel Sanders would, I suspect, not be comfortable stating things so plainly, though.

Huh? Why do you think not abandoning white and male demographics is somehow wrong?

They enjoy all the fruits of their husband's labor and don't have to work outside of home.
Well, no. They "enjoy the fruits of his labor" exclusively at his discretion, because she has submitted to his will.
She can also divorce him at any time and take the house, half his assets and get child support until any children turn 18 and alimony in perpetuity.
Where she would be better compensated for the same labor, because she would still have a house and food but also have a salary and the freedom to spend it however she pleases without being subject to anyone else's review.
Any woman is free to do that. But tradwives chose a different path, presumably because they find it more appealing to them.
Then why is half of the household's adult labor supposed to be dedicated to completing it?
But it's not half, not in this day and age. It does not take anywhere near 40-60 hours per week to keep a house.
That's why I called it a cushy gig.
I would absolutely pay money to see you keeping house and caring for a half dozen kids.
And that is your choice, as it is everybody else's.
I would likewise never want a tradwife, because I think they have it too easy, and also because divorce laws do not have enough protections for the working spouse, especially when he is male (judges are far more willing to award alimony for stay at home women rather than stay at home men).
You would absolutely die, lol!
LMAO, no. I live alone, so I have to work and keep the house. No brood of kids, alas, but past the toddler age, you can use crotchfruit for chores.

That is NOT the tradwife model.

But tradwives chose a different path, presumably because they find it more appealing to them.
As indeed, they are perfectly free to do, the Democratic Party in no wise prevents anyone from staying home and keeping house.

LMAO, no. I live alone, so I have to work and keep the house. No brood of kids, alas, but past the toddler age, you can use crotchfruit for chores.
And your house looks nice enough that a tradhusband wouldn't be pissed with you?

Also, who are you even taking care of, aside from yourself? You're supposed to be taking care of all his shit too, not just yours.

"Trad wife" is a pejorative term directed at white American families and nothing less; and how that's spun into the husband dominating the wife is flat out bizarre. Your interpretation is a paper thin attempt to provide cover for yet another reason so many people have been pushed away from voting for more progressive candidates.
Where in the world did you get this idea?

Here's another tradwife promoter.

And according to Gemini:
1. Online Subculture Origins (Mid-2010s)
  • Message Boards: Early evidence suggests the term first appeared around 2013–2015 on platforms like 4chan and Reddit.
  • Meme Culture: It gained traction through the "Tradwife Wojak" meme in 2019, which depicted a cartoon ideal of a submissive, floral-dress-wearing woman.
  • Ideological Ties: In its earliest usage, the term was often linked to "Red Pill" forums and far-right movements that advocated for a return to patriarchal family structures.

2. Mainstream Pivot (2020)
  • BBC Interview: The term reached a much wider audience in early 2020 after the BBC featured Alena Kate Pettitt, founder of "The Darling Academy". Pettitt used the term to describe women choosing to "submit to and spoil" their husbands, sparking widespread media debate just as global lockdowns began.

3. Social Media Explosion (2022–Present)
  • Aesthetic Rebrand: On TikTok and Instagram, the term shifted from a niche political descriptor to a viral aesthetic. Influencers like Estee Williams, Nara Smith, and Hannah Neeleman (Ballerina Farm) popularized a high-production-value version of the lifestyle—often referred to as "the pastel rebrand".
  • Modern Context: Today, "tradwife" is used as a broad hashtag for content featuring stay-at-home mothers performing domestic tasks like sourdough baking or gardening, often romanticizing 1950s-style domesticity.

:consternation2: Why on earth do you feel you've smacked him around? How do you figure what you said conflicts with what CS said?

Do you think if a progressive said "Woke" and "Politically Correct" are pejorative terms directed at progressives, and a conservative pointed out and documented that those terms were used as self-descriptions by leftists before conservatives ever adopted them, this would qualify as the progressive being smacked around? Do you think it would show those terms aren't pejoratives?

The state of California can’t do anything right

California’s most expensive bridge isn’t for cars or humans, hasn’t been finished, and has already cost more than $100 million. The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, which rises about the lanes of the 101 Freeway in the Los Angeles County mountainside suburb of Agoura Hills, was pitched as a once-in-a-generation conservation fix. The project, once slated to cost $92 million. has now surged now surged to about $114 million, a $21 million overrun. The timeline has blown out as well, from an expected 2025 finish to late 2026 at the earliest. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who turned soil on the project in 2022, pitched it as a model for future crossings across California.
The average cost of a wildlife crossing in America is between $5 million and $20 million. At $114 million and counting, the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing is in a different universe.

Newsom should definitely run for president.

If he were claiming that woke never meant "being aware of systemic discrimination" until conservatives started accusing wokes of being such, your analogy would be relevant.

Or... well, if politically correct had ever been used unironically, I suppose.

Homeless encampments are blighting schools and playgrounds across Los Angeles — but lefty Los Angeles City are still trying to stop a crackdown. The California Post found numerous parks across the city being hijacked by vagrants, with shocking pictures showing public spaces being turned into decrepit shelters, with the homeless choosing to sleep wherever they wanted, including beneath a child’s slide. On Tuesday April 14th, the LA City Council approved a new anti-camping designation for a stretch of Venice at Rose Avenue and Hampton Drive — but four socialist councilmembers, Eunisses Hernandez, Nithya Raman, Hugo Soto-Martínez and Ysabel Jurado, all voting against the measure. The Post has documented for months what residents describe as a “zombie apocalypse” unfolding at MacArthur Park, as encampments take over public space.

What park should the victims be moved to after you "clear" them?

At no point in that video did Mrs. Williams suggest that she or other women would not get to vote.
Of course she "gets to vote". What part of "submit to your husband in all things" do you not understand? Doubling his vote is a critical part of the MAGA strategy, if that breaks down and women start voting in their own interest, they lose the suburbs.
FYI, "representation" doesn't mean they vote however you please; it means they vote however they please. If it pleases them to double their husbands' votes, their option -- it's a free country. Moreover, I think you're vastly overestimating the number of husbands in the fifties who told their wives how to vote.

remembrance != honor
Okay fine. The goal then is to "remember genocides" but never "enumerate" them? Do you agree? Should California have a holiday to vaguely remember that genocide exists but don't talk specifics?
Everyone who literally remembered the 1916 genocide of Armenians by Turks is long dead, so it's no skin off my nose how any legislator votes on a holiday about it. It's a free country. Telling other people what to remember or enumerate is Loren's thing. My thing is telling you not to falsely accuse Loren of "honoring" and "celebrating" genocide.

Neither of those arguments is his argument, and you have produced no evidence that CS intends to victimize anyone.
His whole schtick is that California Democrats needs to be abandon any demographic that they might lose votes advocating for the rights of...
That's not his whole schtick; you are either not competent or else not motivated to describe your opponents' schticks truthfully; and defending your strawmen by constructing more strawmen is not really a way to make a persuasive case.

Neither did she indicate her full-time labor would be unpaid -- it looks like there's some part of "With all my worldly goods I thee endow." you don't understand.
Perhaps you can explain it to me? It seems obvious to me what you're claiming, but I cannot comment on it unless you spell it out, lest you scream at me for "misrepresenting" the point you're too embarassed to say in plain English. I'll wait. How are tradwives compensated economically for being denied an income?
What I'm claiming is marriage is a partnership and she gets half-ownership of her husband's stuff, including his salary going forward, and she gets to take it away with her if he decides to back out of his commitments to her. That's not "denied an income". That's the consideration that makes a contract a contract.

That link is not to any tradwife manifesto. It's a link to an anti-tradwife hit piece.
Nothing in the linked article is inaccurate, it's all clearly sourced.
Your opinion that it's true doesn't magically make it a manifesto. "Manifesto" implies it's a tradwife's own words, not an attempted paraphrase by yet another unsympathetic reviewer little different from yourself.

It's pretty funny to me that you and CS are trying to position yourself as brave defenders of tradwives... by ignoring everything tradwives actually say about their own movement, which has never been remotely ashamed of their Christian roots or 50s values and aesthetics.
:consternation2: Where the bejesus do you see me commenting on the merits of the tradwife lifestyle? If they say a lot of lame-ass nonsense about Christian roots or 50s values and aesthetics, that does not justify you putting words in their mouths, let alone putting words in CS's mouth for arguing about them, let alone putting words in Loren's mouth for arguing about some completely different topic.

CS did not exhibit lazy-ass-ness and did not claim tradwifehood was anything "most" of any demographic want.
I disagree, wanting women as servants is lazy... Learn to fold clothes, it's not that hard.
:picardfacepalm:
Your observation would be on point were you to accompany it with a quote from CS indicating that he wants a tradwife for himself.

As is getting beaten, should hubby ever suspect them of voting differently from his direction. It’s a free country though.

The understandable perception among millions is that they're not wanted--that the Dems have become a party of exclusion.
Because it's the only party that supports anything other than straight white males and their interests, its the "party of exclusion"? Do you think that argument of yours is going to be convicning to any of your intended victims? "Shut up and sit down, you don't need rights, you might make this one specific social class feel discriminated against"?

Do you think most white straight women actually aspire to wait on your hand and foot as per the #tradwife manifesto? Because I think you and all the other lazy-ass men in this country are in for a rude awakening, if so! The 60s are over, man. Most women have other perogatives than just being a domestic servant to some asshole they met in secondary school, and they will vote accordingly.

Meanwhile the GOP welcomes all but the smallest demographics.
Interesting admission. So you admit that the Republican party openly discriminates against the "smallest demographics"?

Perhaps you could list some of the small demographics "unwelcome" in the Republican party, and we can run the numbers. See how it actually all adds up.
I didn't respond to your last personally insulting, made up nonsense, so I'm going to end this response with the period at the end of this sentence.

Typical! You'll stand up for the hurt feelings of fascists and anarchists, but you're afraid to stand behind your own words and claims.

Go on! We're all friends here. Elaborate. Who does the Republican party not welcome? Which demographics are too small to be considered important?

I corrected my post, at your suggestion. Do you need some cheese with that whine?

Good, now that you've eaten, you can explain to me how to "remember" something without "enumerating" what happened.

Who does the Republican party not welcome?
Poli you have to give them credit.
The Party of Trump welcomes ANYONE, regardless of race, creed, ethnicity, religion or social status, as long as they are either a billionaire or are willing to vote against their own interests.

Neither of those arguments is his argument, and you have produced no evidence that CS intends to victimize anyone.
His whole schtick is that California Democrats needs to be abandon any demographic that they might lose votes advocating for the rights of...
The DNC distancing itself from tiny but vocal movements does not mean that those tiny movements lose their rights. They still have all the same rights as everyone else. Ironically, Democrats eschewing those groups is better for those groups because the Dems see them as being just as rightfully entitled to the protections of the 14th AM as everyone else. Thus, the party will advocate for everyone.

Also, the video you posted doesn't help your cause at all. You seem fine with catering to insignificant voting demographics while assuming that women who have families aren't really making up their own minds when clearly they are. This brings me to the same point I've made numerous times here. YOU and those like you have caused people to perceive the left as being disdainful of those who choose to have families and to structure those families the way they wish.

When you say nonsense like that, it's insulting to both husbands and wives; and to many, they will understandably take it as insult to their kids. Fuckin' whatever. Good luck with that. Again, pushing away large demographics for tiny ones that already have the same rights as everyone else is a strategy of sorts I guess, but by looking at the freak in the White House, that strategy doesn't seem to be going well.

Did you miss the "and nothing less" part? Apparently CS didn't understand the term trad wife was originated by trad wives. No one dispute woke and politically correct's origins.

And frankly I have never seen trad wife used as pegorative though I have no doubt it has been used that way. I certainly don't see it being as widespread as woke and politically correct became by the right.
