2026 Mid-Term Elections

Disaster in New Jersey with Hamawy winning the nomination.

He only got ~20k votes (2.5% of the district population) and less than 30% of the votes cast. That shows a glaring flaw of the way nominees are selected. Somebody can win the nomination with far less than majority of the votes from their party, and then go on to become a representative without facing a competitive general election race because districts like NJ-12 are safe.

Today there are primaries in several states.
There is the contentious California governor race, the NJ-12 race where a former associate of an Islamic terrorist leader is leading the Democratic field, as well as races in Iowa, New Mexico, Montana and South Dakota.
In general, it seemed the moderates did pretty well.

NY Times article on Hamawy, a person that apparently knew the blind Sheik, who was involved in the '93 WTC bombing, well enough to testify in said trial.

Fascinating - Magatards unseat incumbents or retaining candidacies are not even an issue, but one progressive Muslim is a disaster.

The paranoid cucks of the right are easily freaked out by “others”.

Yes, I remember Derec whining about Jeremiah Wright too back in 2008. Yes... I remember the most useless information.

This is a general midterm election thread. If you have any issues about any of the races you could have just brought them up, instead of engaging in this silly whataboutism.
but one progressive Muslim is a disaster.
Why should Muslims be beyond criticism? To the extent that we are not even supposed to care about their involvement with terrorist masterminds?

More recently he went to Gaza and lied about absence of Hamas in the hospital he was working at?
‘Squad’-backed NJ Dem Adam Hamawy spent a month at Gaza hospital where Israelis later exposed tunnels and found Sinwar

The paranoid cucks of the right are easily freaked out by “others”.
Throwing idiotic insults around just means that you do not have any actual arguments.

The far left is so enamored of the "others" that they refuse to examine foreign ideologies like Islamism critically. Instead, they are aligning themselves with it because they both oppose things like Israel and the West.

Being critical of somebody for unsavory positions they have taken is not "whining". Why should we not be critical of Wright as much as we would be of any other pastor saying stupid shit?

Dems have always been bad about calling bad actors on their side. That continues with this mindless embrace of Islamists like Hamawy.

The repeated complaints... and how Wright didn't make a quanta of difference in the Obama Administration (the reason you were whining) makes it whining.

It isn’t a whataboutism. If you wish to rant about the likely election of a Muslim progressive while ignoring the continuing power of white nationalist Magatards, go ahead.

No one said anything of the sort. Are you posting drunk?

I wonder how the NY post what he saw or didn’t see. There is a difference between willful lying and ignorance.

Should Dr Hamawy know better or be more thoughtful in interviews? Absolutely.

These people really must think their supporters are stupid. And they are mostly correct about it.

The GOP model is literally the political equivalent of Nigerian Prince emails: they know they have a reliable Republican voter when they will believe the equivalent of an email filled with typos ending in a dubious release of non-recoverable funds wired to an anonymous account.

Ignorance is Republicans’ stock in trade.

This is indeed incredibly stupid, and the reason why I usually vote D despite my misgivings about them.

It's pretty much the textbook definition of whataboutism.
Me: "Hey, this Dem candidate is bad, for these reasons".
You: "But what about those 'Magtards'?"
No one said anything of the sort. Are you posting drunk?
You did, by engaging in whataboutism ("What about those 'Magtards'?") when I offered criticism of an Islamist fauxgressive candidate.
I wonder how the NY post what he saw or didn’t see.
Are you missing a verb here?
There is a difference between willful lying and ignorance.
True. But he spent weeks there, and it is unlikely he genuinely did not see anything. Add to that his rabid anti-Israel views and his associations with terrorists, and the chances that it is anything other than "willful lying" become infinitesimal.
Should Dr Hamawy know better or be more thoughtful in interviews? Absolutely.
And is somebody like that really the best option for Congress?

And you and others are still dodging the question of why somebody who >70% of the Democratic voters rejected should become the Democratic nominee, and almost certainly a congressman. It is high time to modernize the electoral system in this country.

I don't remember exactly what I wrote 18 years ago, but I very much doubt I was "whining".
In any case, I voted for Obama twice, but I still have the right to point out where he has made mistakes.

Your ability to misconstrue is amazing,

Another illogical conclusion. Try to focus on- pointing out an obsession about a subject does not even imply one cannot criticize it.

There is no realistic question to dodge. He won a fair election. If the people of NJ think their election rules need changing, presumably they will do it,

Again and again the bad-faith fascist will bring up "both sides" and refuse to put them on a balance against one another.
