Split New York City Mayoral Race

To notify a split thread.
The point is that it is not unusual nor unheard of.
Unheard of? No. Unusual? I would say yes.
Your bigotry and ignorance is showing - outstate Mn is pretty conservative. Outside of the Twin Cities, Duluth and Rochester, it is Trump country.
It was a bit tongue in cheek, but there is definitely some truth to it - like Minneapolis allowing mosques to blare calls to prayer at 3AM at unlimited volume.
Is Aldi an Islamic grocery store? I know my Food Co-op isn't.
Here in Atlanta we have a few Aldis and they do carry beer and wine. Trader Joe's, owned by the same company, even has its own wine brand.

Are Aldis in Minnesomalia dry?

You mean like some form of id to prove you live in the area before you can buy the discounted items?!! 😲
No, just no rolling up in your Bentley and having your driver go in and wipe them out of discount- priced Little Debbie Snack Cakes.
Heh. Little Debbie products are not on the 30% discount list, so that's a no-go.
What the hell. Forget it. My Bentley is in the shop anyhow, and my driver is suffering from a severe case of non-existence.
BTW… How do you know LD products are off the list?

You need to travel more.

You really need to let that one go. And Minneapolis is not all of Minnesota.

I don't know about Minnesomalia. But in Minnesota, they are dry.

Mamdani Excludes Jews From Judicial Commission

Helluva guy. I believe Jews make up some 45% of court officers in NYC, which includes both judges and attorneys, but they're not on the commission. Radicals from the right and left can always be counted on to be united in their hate of Jews.

I wonder what the reaction would be if X "POC" were to be fully excluded from such a commission.
Did you read the article?

However, Mamdani’s office shot back that Leventhal was denied over his ties to convicted sex trafficker and notorious madam for Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, rather than his religion.
Did you? That's one guy who was rejected. There are still plenty more that could have been chosen, but weren't.
Can you name those other guys?
No. AFAIK, no short list was ever formed or released. But, you can't swing a dead cat in a NYC law office or courthouse and not hit a Jewish lawyer.
So you are just assuming there were Jews on the list and have declared Mamdani guilty by assumption. Nice job.

Maybe it's the Jewish lawyers who are being racist and don't want to work for a Muslim.

Also let’s get the names of everyone ELSE who was not “chosen”.
I think it’s that “chosen” thing that has them so upset.

Mamdani uses the fact that Leventhal once represented Maxwell as an excuse to reject a Jewish candidate for the commission.

But he has no problem to hire a lawyer who represented an Islamist terrorist as a city lawyer.

Mayor-elect Mamdani's controversial pick: ex-al Qaeda lawyer named NYC's top legal counsel

But I am sure you and others on here will vehemently defend this hypocrisy.

Professor Kassem and his students have also defended fifteen prisoners of various nationalities incarcerated without fair process at Guantánamo Bay, Bagram Air Base, and other secret or disclosed U.S. facilities worldwide. Their advocacy at all levels of the federal judiciary, in military tribunals, before administrative and international bodies, and in the media has established important law-of-war precedent and resulted in the liberation of eleven clients so far. This includes the only prisoner released from Guantánamo during the Trump administration, for whom Professor Kassem was lead defense counsel before a Military Commission on charges of war crimes in United States v. Ahmed al-Darbi. In this larger context, Professor Kassem negotiated client repatriations or resettlements in Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, and Yemen.

Wait, it's actually more complicated than what the right winger claims? Huh.

Huh? I had just said that as far as I knew, no short list of Jewish lawyers was ever formed or released by Mamdani. And now you're saying I was assuming there were Jews on the list? The point is there is a huge swath of Jewish lawyers in NYC that he could have chosen from to be on the Judicial Commission. Given the widespread perception that he is anti-semetic, you'd think he could ameliorate that somewhat by including at least one, if not more, Jewish lawyers on the commission. Instead, he continues to double down. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging as they say.

Because only nutritious foods are eligible for the 30% discount. You are aware of Little Debbie's alternate name these days aren't you?

Speaking of doubling down...

Sure, Jan.

Does adherence to a religion put one and the same “persecuted” class as someone born into a genetic group (race) that they have no choice in or power over? (I bet there are zero VooDoo adherents on the Commission either, which is probably lamentable as well)
Or - are you referring to people of a “Jewish Race”? If that’s the case I offer myself as an example; I’m half Jewish by that measure, but have never suffered discrimination even nearly in the same league as what I have seen suffered by people who are “half black”.

From what I can tell, Jews are about 11% of NYC population which is 1 out of 9. If appointments were made at random, one would mathematically expect 2 of the 18 appointees to be Jewish. Note that would be a minimum mathematical expectation out of the entire population. If Colonel Saunders' estimate is relatively accurate, then the mathematical expectation from that group would be around 8 Jews.

So, it does appeaer that Mayor Mandami is avoided appointing Jews to that commission.
What percent of Jewish court officers would be willing to be publicly linked to Mamdani, though? Even if they agreed with his policy proposals, would they be willing to face the wrath of people like Derec calling them self-hating Jews and Hamas supporters?

LD products

LD Products. The most patent infringing Chinese made toner and ink products on the web.

The OEMs keep sending in patent infringement complaints to Amazon, et al and they take them down only for them to pop up again. The ultimate whack a mole.

LOL! LD stands for Little Debbie.

Yes but it's also LD Products. Cheap patent infringing toner and inkjet cartridge supplies from China.

I think we all know even if he did do everything right with regards to the commission people would still be calling him an antisemite regardless.

How does this contradict what I said? He defended and worked for Al Qaeda terrorists. I think this goes well beyond just professional legal representation - he seems to have sought out Islamist terror clients, probably because he agrees with their ideology (similar to the far-left lawyer Lynne Stewart). As such, I disagree with Mamdani appointing him to a role within the NYC government. I also think he should not be teaching at CUNY.

However, if you claim that him defending terrorists should not be held against him when it comes to getting a role in the city government, then surely defending Maxwell should not be held against Nathan Leventhal. Except that the mayor is an antisemite.

By the way, Kassem is the boyfriend of the extremist congressional nominee Avila Chevalier. She may be the worst of the crop of likely new DSA congresscritters after the Blind Sheikh associate Adam Hamawy.

Wait, it's actually more complicated than what the right winger claims? Huh.
Which right winger? And how is that Key Wiki entry (which by the way seems to be written by his PR team) contradicting to my point. Which is that if Kassem is acceptable despite defending terrorists, then Leventhal should be acceptable despite defending Maxwell.
Especially since that entry shows that Kassem is involved with Islamist causes beyond his legal defense work.

But of course, Leventhal has one fatal flaw as far as the Mamdani regime is concerned. He is ...
