Climate Change(d)?

Why do you think millions of people have illegally crossed our southern border?

It wasn’t climate change, it was because Brandon opened the border.
Back to ad homs and long gone Biden. Very Trump like. blaming Biden.

As someone grounded in physical systems a national grid that integrates and mismanages wind, solar, hydro, nuclear and natural gas where needed is a no brainier. Even without climate issues coal is a dirty energy source.

It is people like you in politics who make a common sense approach to energy impossible.

Oh the irony.

It is people like you in politics who make a common sense approach to energy impossible.

It is religious fanaticism about “carbon”, “fossil fuels” and the bogeyman Big Oil that was the problem. Thankfully we have a president that isn’t falling for the bullshit climate catastrophe.

Hurricane Polo is the second strongest storm in the Pacific on record. It is a sign of climate change because the environment is spitting out stronger and stronger hurricanes

lol. It has been a very quiet hurricane season this year (no doubt due to “climate change” lol) and there is an El Niño so no surprise Hurricane Polo is strong but I believe it has been downgraded to a Cat 4, much to the chagrin of the climate catastrophe cultists. They want a Cat 5 for the rapture, lol.

It is a catastrophic 71f in Santa Monica. Oh the humanity!! lol.
The problem is climate is a frog-boiling problem.

I worry more about actual threats like earthquakes than the climate fetish nonsense posted here.

It’s a hot one today folks. I had the AC running, I will survive.
Maybe you will not survive. I might live 4 or 5 years but that is about it. Younger people today are facing a very uncertain future.

Global warming is affecting food supply today. Rising temperatures will reduce rice production. A global staple, a serious issue.

Global warming plus the Trump, Putin, Netanyahu. Iran insanity is a 'prefect storm'.

Our grid is old an needs replacement, and we may not have the capacity for all the new air conditioning,

In the North East in the 60s I remember brown outs. In the summer as people got home and turned AC on the power voltage dropped. lights dimmed.
Yeah, look at those brown outs. Not enough power for the demand.

The tolerances have gotten a lot tighter since, the control systems have gotten a lot better but that doesn't magically make power appear. Now if you exceed the grid it simply chop off sections as needed to keep from collapsing. Texas got an unpleasant example of this happening. A grid collapse could take us out. In theory blackstart capability exists (bringing the grid up from a state of truly zero power) but there aren't a lot of facilities that can do it and not all that many people trained on the procedures. If it goes down can those people reach those facilities before everything comes apart? Personally, I doubt it. The reality is that nobody anywhere has actually done this at any scale. Even that massive collapse in Spain some facilities were able to cut themselves off fast enough they didn't go down. They had only a small percent of the total power available but it wasn't reduced to zero. Connect to one generator, provide it enough power to start up, now you have more power and can repeat the process until the grid is restored.

Go watch Apollo 13. Specifically, the part where they are trying to figure out how to restart the capsule without any power spike beyond what the batteries could provide. And you don't get to test it on the ground.

1) Brandon didn't open the border. The Republicans refused to permit anything to be done about the problem.

2) Most illegals don't sneak across the border anyway.

Interesting.
Retaining walls make beach erosion worse.
More dumb ass humans, just to get a better view!

Water currents take away the sand. Walls can impact the currents. In some areas along Lake Erie, they are putting up stone jetties that jut into the lake to attract sand deposition instead of using armor. The jetties seem to be decent at maintaining the toes of the lakeshore, attracting enough sand over a period of time, but not a lot.

This El Nino almost got the shut out in the Atlantic, but Isaias is likely to strengthen into a hurricane. But it was a good hurricane season for El Nino's defense, shutting down most systems before they could really develop anything offensively. El Nino doesn't have much of an off season, though and will move on to the Winter side of its sports program.

So who is excited for COP31?!!!! I know I am!!

This will be the last chance to save the planet again.

Restricting global warming is a matter of survival and too many countries ‌are shirking their responsibility to cut emissions, the official presiding over the UN's flagship upcoming climate conference said on the final day of the meeting's precursor event on Thursday.
"Today is a time where everyone is running away from responsibility," Murat Kurum, Turkey's climate minister and president of this year's UN COP conference, COP31, said at a press conference. "We do not have a single minute, a single day to lose." He was speaking on the final day of pre-COP, which brought thousands of delegates to Fiji this week and took a group from 30 countries to Tuvalu ahead of the main event to be held in Antalya, Turkey, in November. But Kurum said holding to that (1.5 degree) limit is crucial. "This 1.5 degree goal ... is a matter of survival," he said. "The survival of cultures, history, memories, your homeland, your homes."

Sure, January 6th was a right wing coup attempt.

75° for the high here today.
But it’s a fairly dry heat, despite rain earlier in the week, so it’s very comfortable regardless of wardrobe or lack thereof. Beautiful seasonal colors right now, and the sunsets have been spectacular. Fantastic clear air, scrubbed by the recent rain.
Elk are bugling at night and a small coyote pack has been yipping it up every few nights. It sounds like they’re close, on my property.
Oh wait - this is the climate change thread!

My apology. Never mind.
But - insect populations are down radically.

Poor Fizzle does not understand the differnence between weather and climate. Or does he?

Back in the 80s they called this sort of stuff pranks, conducted by phone.

Today these things are conducted online and are called … which rules prohibit me from saying.

It doesn't apply to Santa Monica, which sits in a bubble where the climate never changes.

It is a catastrophic 77f in Santa Monica today.

So your little bubble world holds up for another day. Meanwhile, worldwide climate change is happening over many decades.

Lol, that’s the way climate change works fella. It changes over time and it is variable.
