I have seen a number of books I would like to order from the author Cat Rambo http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ld-keywords=cat+rambo&rh=n:283155,k:cat+rambo
Unfortunately they are only available in kindle format and I don't a kindle. Can you recommend any ways that I could turn a kindle book into a PDF so that I could read it? I am not trying to do anything illegal or to get this books without paying for them, I just want to be able to read them

You don't need a kindle to read kindle books. There are kindle reader apps for iPhones/iPads and for android devices. The apps are free, but you do have to pay for most of the kindle e-books (same as if you had a kindle)

There are thousands of free e-books on kindle, and a lot of libraries also lend in the kindle e-book format.

P.S. Thank you for reminding me to reinstall the kindle app on my new phone ;)

1) To read: Kindle for PC. It's a free download from Amazon. If you're buying a Kindle book it will offer you the download link. Note that it will not work until you enter the login information for the Amazon account that the book was purchased on. It's a bit slow to launch but it does have the nice feature of remembering the last page read--and for Amazon-purchased content this will synchronize across all Kindles (assuming you have the transmitter turned on--I normally leave mine off unless there's something incoming as it shortens the battery life) and Kindle software.

2) To convert: Calibre. There's a plug-in that strips the Amazon DRM and Calibre also does a good job of converting books between formats.
