No, it's not terrorism, it's just using violence and fear in pursuit of a political agenda. If we start calling things like that terrorism, the word could start applying to white people.

Surprised this hasn't cropped up here yet.

Maybe it's because the agenda of the shooter is so clear without even having to hear from him as to why he did what he did.

But maybe it's interesting as a commentary on yet another manifestation of insane gun laws, right wing rhetoric, and the effect that custom made news and the internet can have on an already fucked individual. Or maybe he would have done it anyway. We'll have to see just how he came to the conclusion as to why it was necessary to do what he did. And we're somewhat fortunate in that regard--we get to find out why.

He is 57. He's probably a conservative and patriot because some neighbors thought his cabin in the woods in North/South Carolina had a Confederate flag and US flag on it. [Also he was handing out anti-Obama pamphlets]. Suggestion of mental illness is out there already, possibly a schizophrenic.

Fuel-Air explosive.

Without a proper detonator you won't get anything like the full effect but let the gas out with a bullet and then spark it and you'll get quite a mess. It probably won't work as well confined in a building (poor mixing of the propane with the air) but the overpressure will still probably take out every wall and might utterly destroy the building.

Such shooters are usually either shot by the police or kill themselves when they run out of targets.
 
If only we had Christian apologists on this board like our resident Muslims ones. Then we could have a long thread with back and forth debate about how not all Christians are like that and anecdotes about all the peaceful Christian friends we know. Maybe the Christian apologists could blame the Ottoman Empire for the suppressed animosity that lead to this tragedy or the 7th century Muslim conquests. Then the only side could argue it was actually Christian Rome's fault for starting it all.

As much as I blame the right wing media for inciting this christian hate, I don't need to put all the christians internment camps, and I'd argue against those who proposed it. Likewise against arguments to deny entry from christian immigrants based on this man's actions.

I find it fascinating that you do not refer to this shooter (who is a white person) as a "thug". Does this mean you think this shooter had a reasonable fear for his life (or the lives of others) and was simply defending himself (or others)?

I have several male friends who register as women for privacy reasons. As well as female friends who register as male for the same reason. I think it's the zeitgeist. We've just had enough of the government knowing everything about us. So we do our bit to fuck with the census.

In Sweden we truly do have equal rights. So what gender we register as is truly irrelevant
