Literally, in the second video a guy (who shot the video?) can be heard saying that "he didn't do shit".
Now, is that true? Of course not! Mario Woods, 26, the latest cause celebre of the increasingly unhinged #blacklivesmatter movement, had stabbed somebody with a knife and was released on parole from an armed robbery conviction just last year. He also refused to drop the knife even after being shot repeatedly with bean bags. He must have realized the police were never going to just let him walk away. For him it was always either prison or the morgue. So it even could have been a case of "suicide by cop".
But cue apologetics for him.
UPDATED: Mario Woods, Gang Member Slain by SFPD, Remembered as "Total Sweetheart"
Anitra Dorn, a 25-year-old Bayview resident, recalled Woods as a "total sweetheart." Dorn says she attended Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School with Woods, before losing touch with him. Dorn spoke of his "bright white smile" and said Woods "always liked people to be happy."

Perhaps when he was a kid, in fucking middle school. Note that the editors chose to feature this absolutely up-to-date quote in their headline.
In comments to the Chronicle, witnesses and people who identified themselves as acquaintances as Woods described him as a slight man seen around the neighborhood drinking a beer or smoking cigarettes who posed little threat and "wouldn't hurt a fly."

Perhaps he wouldn't hurt a fly, but he certainly would hurt people.
Reality:
The encounter began after a stabbing victim arrived at San Francisco General Hospital yesterday to report that he'd been attacked at Third Street and Le Conte and that the stabber was still at large. Police responded and found Woods, who matched the description given by the victim, about six blocks away near the intersections of Third Street and Gilman Avenue in Bayview-Hunters Point at about 4:35 p.m. yesterday.
Still armed with the kitchen knife allegedly used in the stabbing, Woods was reportedly pepper-sprayed and shot with less-lethal beanbag ammunition but was still standing and refusing to surrender, according to police. Officers demanded he drop the knife, but Woods moved towards an officer who was approaching him, and was subsequently shot 15 times. [..]
In 2009, when Woods was 19, he was identified by Herrera as an "active gang member" who had participated in armed robbery, had stolen a car, and had gotten into an automobile accident while fleeing from police.
According to court records, he pleaded guilty in 2008 to possession of a firearm by a felon. He was sentenced to seven years in state prison in 2012, after having spent almost three years in County Jail. It was not immediately clear when he was released from prison.

This "turning his life around" is quickly becoming a cliche. Yeah, stabbing somebody clearly shows he was turning his life around. :rolleyes:

And of course there are many protests again. But at least these protesters can take some comfort from the fact that they live in California, not Minnesota. :)
 
You know why dindu (short for dindu nuffin) is such a great racial slur? It is because it is so evocative.

I challenge the darker members here to come up with as good a new slur for whte folk or police.

It's not a racial slur. It's a slur against thugs and the apologetics that "they didn't do nothing" when clearly they did.

What? Good old "Blue Eyed Devils" and "Pigs" not evocative enough for you? And note, these are real racial and occupational slurs, not those confined to certain destructive behaviors like armed robbery, stealing cars and stabbing people in broad daylight.
 
It dehumanizes them, but if anyone deserves that it most it is dindus anyways.

Somehow I missed the meaning of "dindu nuffin" up to now. Duh. Bil Keane should add Dindu Nuffin to the cast of the Family Circus, alonside Ida Know and Not Me:

I do not support dindu nuffins of any flavor (milk chocolate or vanilla or something else). If these cops are guilty of these heinous* allegations, throw the book at them. That doesn't change the fact that Mario Woods from the OP is yet another undeserving cause celebre who has spawned protests and street shutdowns yet again.

* Crimes under color of authority are especially heinous.

You are failing to say just what Mario Woods is undeserving of....is that prosecution....or is that compassion?:confused:
 
Well, dindu itself seems to be coined (or at least went viral) in August 2014 in regards to Michael Brown on 4chan.org/pol/

So, even if someone uses it in a non racist way it is hard to get away from the others using it in its intended manner.
