I wonder if he's going to spark protests by BLM.
Off-duty cop shoot and kill gunman in Northlake Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina, sends people into panic during last-minute Christmas Eve shopping
The dead guy (or "victim" as people on here insist thugs like him need to be referred as) was a rapper who went by the name "Donkey Cartel". I will subsequently refer to him as "that jackass".

Live by the gun and all that ...
That jackass also appeared to be a virulent racist.

All in all, kudos to Charlotte cops for taking out the garbage and that no innocents were killed.

By the way, his parents had this to say

"My son was a good boy. He was loving, caring, loved people, loved the kids, everybody adored my son," Juan Westbrook said.
They said he graduated high school a year early and was already a student at Gaston Community College, hoping to work in construction while rapping on the side.
"He’s very respectful. He's a loving person. He'll give you his last," Westbrook’s mother, Sheana Shirley, said.
She said it was giving that led Westbrook to Journey's shoe store at Northlake Mall.
She said he went to buy her a gift and had just gotten off the phone with her to ask her size when she believes he ran into the person he blamed for shooting his brother.
EXCLUSIVE: Parents of armed teen killed at Northlake Mall speak out

Known in the hip hop world as a rising star under the moniker Donkey Cartel, beyond music, Westbrook had a lengthy rap sheet. He was arrested 11 times since 2013, most recently this past October. Charges include weapons possession, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill for a 2013 shooting of a 12 year old boy.
Suspect in mall shooting arrested 11 times since 2013

Again, why the hell is somebody with his record out on the streets already?

Arrests are not convictions - that is why.
Yes, I'm sure he "didnu nuffin".
And by the way sunshine, he had convictions, felony ones (hence one of his charges being "possession of a firearm by a felon" which was also inspiration for his rap album "Convicted Felon with a Weapon").
There is also such a thing as "remanded to custody without bail", based on him having violated his parole.
For all the mass incarceration, sometimes courts are very lax with violent criminals.

Good to see you keeping classy.

Maybe you should ask the last court why he wasn't in jail. Maybe you could teach that judge something about jurisprudence.

I will not doubt that a very small amount of people will say the police overreacted in this new case. It really means nothing unless you have an axe to grind.

I will be surprised if BLM gets involved.

Well he was one of them.

Where do any of those tweets state he was involved in the organizing of #BLM protests?
I did not say he was an organizer, but he is spouting the same BLM-style nonsense about "police killing blacks" (in reality police shootings of black people are not disproportionate when adjusting for relative crime rates) and "whites killing blacks" (in reality blacks are twice as likely to kill whites as vice versa).
Btw, I found the last tweet, "bullets gone(sic) go threw(sic) you" to be rather ironic, given how only two days later bullets went "threw" him ...

Apparently it is necessary, when he is releasing jackasses like this to shoot up malls on Christmas Eve.
Given your extensive legal education and experience, along with the obvious disinterestedness necessary for jurisprudence, I am sure you will find a receptive audience.

Given your extensive legal education and experience,
Argument from authority. You are not discussing the decision itself, but are claiming that because it was made by a judge, it must have been right.

And how do you know the judge was disinterested?

And note that he has a felony rap sheet--thus can't legally possess a firearm. The mere fact he was armed shows he was committing a fairly serious offense when he was shot.

No, I am not making that argument at all. I am implying that your lack of legal knowledge and of legal experience would be a gigantic obstacle in getting any judge to pay attention to you.
And how do you know the judge was disinterested?
I don't nor did I assume the judge was. Ignoring your lack of legal education, knowledge and experience, your obvious biases would induce most judges to dismiss your views.

Well I have enough legal knowledge to know the meaning of the words "parole violation".

And in your excellent hindsight and there still is no reason for any judge to pay attention to your views.

You might also want to not that arrested =/= actually guilty or formally charged. Part of the problem in Minneapolis has been the use of arrests for "lurking with intent" used to arrest (mostly black men) for no real reason other than being black.

Do you have any actual evidence that all these black men were arrested for no other reason than being black? Minneapolis' most famous thug Jamar Clark was arrested for many things, but "being black" or "lurking with intent" weren't among those.

He didn't violate probation in hindsight, he violated probation earlier this year when he was arrested for (among other things) possession of a firearm by a felon. He was on probation for that prior felony.
Had the judge been a bit stricter, Donkey Cartel might still be alive. Serenading his fellow inmates with his dulcet rap rhymes, but alive nevertheless.
