In my opinion, we’ve spent $4 trillion trying to topple various people that frankly, if they were there and if we could’ve spent that $4 trillion in the United States to fix our roads, our bridges, and all of the other problems; our airports and all of the other problems we’ve had, we would’ve been a lot better off. I can tell you that right now.

We have done a tremendous disservice, not only to Middle East, we’ve done a tremendous disservice to humanity. The people that have been killed, the people that have (been) wiped away, and for what? It’s not like we had victory.

It’s a mess. The Middle East is totally destabilized. A total and complete mess. I wish we had the $4 trillion or $5 trillion. I wish it were spent right here in the United States, on our schools, hospitals, roads, airports, and everything else that are all falling apart.

He makes perfect sense. Perfect.

Easy to say these things now.

Always easy to say that the plans of others went badly. Many Soviets said the same thing about their invasion of Afghanistan.

What he should say, and won't because he is a panderer, is that it was immoral to attack Iraq in the first place and the people who ordered it deserve to be in prison.

Panderer? He's the one that's most apt to speak his mind, and you're the one looking at this from a moral perspective and acting like he's intentionally holding back on that front. How about this, if he felt we could come out ahead by going to war, and if doing so was wrong, he'd consider it a win. Why? Because his train of thought is on winning, not being sidetracked with minor ethical concerns.

How in the world can you trust a single word that he says? He's so erratic and unpredictable. He's also the first US politician that we've had who would deliberately target civilians.

Representative democracy is based on pandering. It's only how much and to whom that varies.

This relates to what I said in the thread about Trump's foreign policy experience: it doesn't matter. All that matters is how he can frame the issues against Clinton. All Trump has to do is go on the offensive and blame the "establishment candidate" for the fuckups of multiple past administrations abroad, and how much they have cost. It's irrelevant that he might not do anything differently or might be worse himself, because in order for anyone to find that out he'd have to be elected first.

I never use that word. I just looked it up. I was not expecting what I found.

Except he didn't aim this at Clinton. He said it in a Republican debate in 2015. He took on the war mongering Republican establishment with those comments

He is better than the neocons like Hillary who have deliberately targeted civilians. Over 9000 bombing raids in Libya targeting thousands of civilians.
None of them threatened America.
Trump said he would target ISIS and their families. Unlike the others you worship he is not a hypocrite about it.

Ha! Who is doing the worshipping?!! The only real reason why you are drinking the Trump coolaide is because he's more open to Putin and is anti-Nato. You are a one a one-issue type of person.

To me, there are so many other issues that would make him a terrible president.

I saw an interesting comment in the NYT, it said, approvingly, that Trump was a liberal whose goal was to destroy the Republican Party.

That was a new one to me.

Hindsight is almost always right. What was Trump saying in real time?

According to factchecker, he tepidly supported Bush's invasion on it's eve. To be fair, it appears that he began pulling his support pretty soon after the invasion due to the cost:

I am much less concerned with what he says that he would have done in hindsight and more concerned with what he says that he will do.

  • intentionally target civilians in bombing campaigns.
  • round up and deport eleven million people who are guilty of committing a class 3 misdemeanor, less serious than a speeding ticket
  • pass a tax cut largely benefiting the rich that will cost the US one trillion dollars a year in lost revenue
  • buy down the national debt, that is partially default on it
  • build a 20 billion dollar wall to keep would be illegal immigrants out and the illegals already here in
  • establish a religious test for visitors and immigrants to the US

This is just a partial list that I came up with in a couple of minutes. It is possible that he has disavowed some of these at one time or another. He has been pretty erratic about his plans for the nation if he is elected.

That's a great list. To add to the crazy idea of buying down the debt, this would increase our interest rates by 5%, over night. We'd become a banana state over night. Some other crazy ideas:

1. Space out immunizations in order to stop autism;
2. Trade wars with China and South Korea
3. encourage South Korea and Japan to develop their own nuclear weapons;

Add to this, let Jim DeMint's Heritage Foundation choose a short list of Supreme Court nominees for the future. Plus nominate far right Federal Judges, 63 openings at this time.

He aims his drivel against whoever he's running against. Besides Clinton's record isn't that much different from the republicans in terms of foreign policy.

The big difference is that republicans tend to like to occupy countries. Clinton and Obama tend to favor drone and seal team six action, then let the locals on the ground be the occupying force.

Yes massive panderer.

Panderer to the bigoted and the prejudiced and the hateful.

Do you honestly think some billionaire gives a shit about Mexican workers? Is it possible to be so naive?

Of course, Trump was for the war in Iraq, prior to the invasion, back in 2002.
article said:
“Yeah, I guess so,” Trump responded. “I wish the first time it was done correctly.”
It has slipped my mind, what was it that you were saying?
