A day before Cyndi Lauper’s concert in Raleigh, the cast of the singer’s Broadway musical Kinky Boots has released a music video opposing North Carolina’s House Bill 2.
“Just Pee (Where You Want To Pee)” features Lauper and co-star Harvey Fierstein dancing in a bathroom, waving toilet paper and singing rewritten lyrics to the musical’s final song, “Just Be.”
“So, you don’t like transgender people?” Fierstein said in a news release accompanying the video. “Have the balls to honestly say it. Fierstein said the song is intended to poke fun at the controversial law, which among other provisions requires people in government facilities to use the bathroom that corresponds with the gender on their birth certificate.
