Terror attack in Nice

Confirmed: ISIS takes credit for attack with no apparent connection to their group.

There wouldn't be a bunch of arrests if he were a lone wolf.
One of the people arrested was his ex-wife from ten years ago. Clearly, they are playign it safe and arresting and questioning anyone who might be involved.

Besides, we know that he got guns from someone. Finding that guy and any other contacts he might have had still makes sense even if none of them were connected to ISIS or islamists extremists.

Minnesota is one of those places paralyzed by political correctness.

Yeah, sure sounds like it. You didn't mention that these thugs had bottle rockets in their arsenal; that changes everything. Comparable incidents of harassment have never occurred elsewhere in the country in the past, and so this clearly signals an imminent Muslim conquest and establishment of Sharia

Get a fucking life instead of wasting it perusing right-wing websites validating your own asinine fears.

What is it about Islam that you find so endearing? You seem absent whenever other religions are criticized on this forum. And seeing a member of an atheist/agnostic board consistently defend religion is bizarre. Is it that you find the story of seizure-ridden child molester who spoke in tongues and commanded his followers to kill non-believers more credible than, say, a guy who claimed to be the son of a deity who arose after dying on a crucifix, or, say, a guy who said he was directed by an angel to some golden plates with scripture, which he couldn't keep as proof, but luckily was able to write down?

No, and only an idiot would interpret my posts that way. When people here start demonizing Jews, Hindus or Christians en masse the way you do to Muslims on a daily basis, be sure to point it out to me.

So, do you have the balls to answer my question or not, Trausti?

If it was a planned attack he would have recorded a video in advance and ISIS would have it already. That is standard ISIS operating procedure. No video = not planned by ISIS.

We know he got 100k euro somewhere. I highly doubt it was his own savings. We also know the guy was mentally sick. ISIS and other terrorist organization do like to recruit mentally sick because they are easier to manipulate into suicide missions.

Ehe? Source?

If I was a terrorist I would steer clear of mentally ill people. For many reasons. For one thing, they are unreliable. So just on the face of it I think it's bullshit. Also, why manipulate anybody into going on a suicide mission? Why not just pick somebody who isn't crazy and is also self-motivated?

There's clearly no shortage of non-mentally ill Muslims who want to go on a suicide mission. So why bother with the crazies?

I also doubt Muslim Jihadis are evil. I think they think they are the good guys. Good guys don't prey on the mentally ill. I don't think anybody thinks that is cool.

Everyone thinks they are the good-guys.

Yup. Totally.

You don't know much about terrorism, do you? Mentally sick people are perfect for suicide bombing.

Because not crazy can be used for more important things, like brainwashing mentally sick.

You really think so?

The money could be terrorist, but more likely drugs, and other criminal activity. Or possibly just savings, depending on his job.

That explains it. The Daily Mail just make shit up. You're going to need another source, mate. The Daily Mail is garbage. Just lies lies lies.

For two reasons:

1) It's a question of numbers. You need an extremely low number of suicide bombers to do a lot of terrorizing.
2) It's a well known psychological mechanism where people just love sacrificing themselves for "something greater than ourselves". If we perceive a threat as serious enough we will be willing to sacrifice ourselves to protect those we care about. It's the "altruism" instinct. It is reportedly much stronger in people with a lot of younger siblings. Mentally healthy people do it all the time.

Perhaps suicide bombers read the Muslim version of the Daily Mail and perceive "the west" as a threat trying to destroy them, when in reality it isn't?

Criminal Gangs could also be a source for weapons.

It's all good theory but in practice most of these terrorists are easily manipulated scam.

Kinda missing the point, aren't you? The article you linked proved only that ISIS took credit for the attack, but provided no other information to confirm a connection. We don't know who the others are (two, not a "bunch") and French authorities have not yet determined if the attack was motivated (as your source points out) by "rage or radicalization."

I do agree that the ISIS connection has not been confirmed. My point was that lone wolves won't result in other arrests.

He's a lone wolf that was given money and prodding. Not part of any organization. A recent convert.

Lone wolves aren't given money and prodding.

Questioning, yes--but not arrests.

This guy disagrees with your assessment:

Confirmed: ISIS, not a lone wolf.

Lone wolves aren't given money and prodding.

Lone wolves have been exploited by others for a long time.

Yes. #nothingtodowithIslam.

As investigators continue to look into the attacker's motives, his uncle in Tunisia, Sadok Bouhlel, told The Associated Press his nephew had been indoctrinated about two weeks ago by an Algerian member of the Islamic State group in Nice. He said Bouhlel's family problems — he was estranged from his wife and three children — made him easy prey for the Algerian recruiter.

A seething angry man.

Made that way by life, not Islam.

Just exploited by those promoting Islam and deluded into thinking they are protecting Islam.
