The former Texas governor is President-elect Donald Trump's choice to become energy secretary, two people with knowledge of the decision say.

If confirmed by the Senate, Perry is likely to shift the department away from renewable energy and toward oil and other fossil fuels that he championed during a record 14 years as governor.

...

The best-remembered one came during a presidential debate in 2011 when he couldn't remember, despite repeated attempts, the third of three federal agencies he had promised to eliminate if elected. He finally muttered "Oops."
The one he forgot was, ironically, the Energy Department. The two others were Commerce and Education.
Well hopefully Perry can reverse the bothersome explosion of oil and gas production we saw occur during the Obama Administration!

So keeping score here, we've got...

A Secretary of Energy who wants to eliminate the Energy Department.

An EPA head who hates the EPA.

An Education Secretary who wants to demolish public schools.

The first Secretary of State to have never held a government job or a military position.

A HUD Secretary who is actually qualified...to be Surgeon General.

What's next?

Well, this is kind of what we expected with a guy who never held a public service job in his life and has no taste for politics.

Well, at least Trump didn't appoint an energy secretary without any political or military experience like Obama did.

Here is the thing. If these appointees actually manage to go in and do a good job, just shows anyone could probably do it.

Gee. So appointing a Nobel prize winning physicist and a renowned physicist who had previous experience in Energy Dept. are negatives compared with a man who can't remember where he put his glasses.

I'd like to remind you of a period of American history in '01 and '08 where bad appointments didn't go well. These people are being appointed to undermine the US, not support it.

They explicitly have stated so in the past, why shouldn't we believe them?

You are probably correct. i will not argue with you there. What you are starting to see in my opinion is the final looting of the empire.

In my opinion the US is going down and is going down in such a way it will likely not recover in our lifetimes. We are going back to what we were pre-World War Two with a few rich people at the top and a still existing but very, very much smaller middle class that directly serves the rich. The great mass are going to be poor. I do not predict the country will break up or have a military coup or mass starvation or anything like what some people predict. The US is just going back to what it traditionally had been before the World War and the Soviet threat made it have to develop somewhat for the betterment of all and not just an elite few.

It's all about the political and/or military experience I am told.

Extraneous non-qualifications like, say, being a world renowned brain surgeon don't count for shit. I hear.

Remember, this is why Evangelicals are going to burn in hell.

Trump Voter: "But I thought all sins were forgiven?!"
Jesus: "Really? You voted for Trump... Donald fucking Trump!"

Also, is Trump like Bing Crosby... and he wouldn't allow anyone to out stage him, so only he can smile?
