Looks like it's being quietly retracted. I guess they already gave up on hiding the fact that they're crooks, and now only want to hide the fact that they tried to hide that fact ...again. He didn't exactly say it was wrong, just that it wasn't a priority.

Also, if the laws are in place, he's in a better position to sell indulgences, offering pardons to the crooks as necessary to get support for his own projects.
