US President 2016 - the Great Horse Race

Ah, so all those briefings telling me I had to protect classified info were lying to me. I understand.

Whatever you think you went through is irrelevant, you are wrong about the facts about Clinton's situation and the relevant law.

I know the crucial difference. Hillary Clinton is Hillary Clinton, Jason Harvestdancer is not Hillary Clinton. Therefore there is a huge difference.

The difference is that she was Secretary of State, and you're a self-appointed expert on all the sorts of intelligence available to a cabinet member?

So all the investigations done by Congress and the FBI that determined conclusively Clinton had not broken the law were all wrong?

Whether someone broke the law is determined by a court, not by Congress or the FBI.

Mind you Obama didn't understand that and he has a law degree

Executive powers and Trump

Which executive powers are going to be particularly dangerous with Trump as President?

They did say she was "careless". Any other private citizen would have had his/her arse in jail!

No. The difference is I'm not as important as she is, and I admit as such. I don't have deep political connections, she did.

It's the sniffler in chief. This is the stupidest, ugliest inauguration speech I've ever heard. Hopefully he goes out like Harrison.

And today he gave the stupidest presidential speech to the CIA I ever heard. I have a feeling every speech he gives will be the stupidest.

There's not a transcript yet, but it was worse than even I would expect. He used that time to keep going on about the inauguration crowd size, complaining about the media saying it was small, when there was really a million people there. He goaded the audience to applaud for his inauguration speech. He also claimed the media was lying about there being a feud between him and the intelligence community, when just the week before he was calling them Nazis. And he wants you to know he loves honesty. Oh, and when he actually talks about the CIA, he makes sure to say that they need to remove restraints, because we don't win no more.

And OMG, right now I'm watching Sean Spicer give a press briefing and he starts out by lecturing the press for lying about the crowd size too, he is practically yelling at them even.

Holy shit, and then after a few minutes of this, he just walks out without taking any questions.

No, nothing fascist here at all, not all. Nothing worth protesting at all.

Four more years of him trying to convince us he's got a big dick.

One clip of it I thought was bad was saying something about 'make you stars, make you jems' or something like that, while standing before the wall of stars.

Yeah, some CIA peeps have said it offended them how he behaved in front of their memorial wall.

It will be a long time before a president is elected who has the oratary skills of Obama. A born skilled windbag.
Clinton, HW Bush, Reagan, Carter, Obama all could speak. W had problems speaking and was over his head (but I'm certain he knew it). Trump doesn't have problems speaking in front of people... but he does have problems being literate, intelligent on the subjects he talking about, and sincere. Telling the CIA he'll have their back, 'maybe too much', is obvious grandstanding and an insult to their intelligence.

Yes, and they as much as said so; as clearly as they could without directly calling bullshit on him.

Eh, probably a large fine and probation. At most.

So get over it.
Look, I rarely agree with Jason on many issues, although generally we are in agreement on foreign policy. But for a second, resist the urge to kneejerk disagree with anything Jason says and defend Hillary for anything she does or has done - the election is over, by the way - and think about this exchange I'm quoting:

Jason: "Hilary Clinton got away with something that would have landed a less prominent individual in serious trouble". Jimmy: "Get over it".

Is that really how you think?

Jason is wrong though.

Right. Then the response should be "No, Jason, you are wrong. A non prominent individual would have been treated the same. For example...".

Not "get over it."

The willingness of Democrats to abandon principles because they **hate Trump** is not a good thing.
