It looks like Trump's Buy American policies are starting to pay off.

All this has resulted in an estimated loss of $185 million in business travel bookings from January 28 to February 4, as calculated by the Global Business Travel Association. The drop-off in tourism is predicted to result in 4.3 million fewer visitors this year, which adds up to a staggering loss of $7.4 billion in revenue for the US.

Tourism has dropped significantly since he took office, so US companies will be much more reliant on getting Americans to buy from them, due to less available options. People seem to be making a moral decision to just not help fund this guy.

It's called "WINNING!" in the Cheato lexicon.

How come so many of the "buy American" loudmouth types buy (or marry) foreign women?

You kid, but I bet if this story gets any legs there will be a Trump tweet about how tourism is "yuge," or Sean Spicy Tuna Roll will claim that the number of people visiting the US is higher than it has ever been (and also Hitler).

Turns out when all of your decisions defy logic and reason actual bad things tend to happen. Who would have thought?

His buddy Tom Brady.

Who else besides Trump? Oh wait, it's Loren. He is a know proponent of buying american and married foreign woman.
I've known 2 loudmouth buy American types over the years and they both had imported wives. It is the loudmouth part that I find ironic...like FFvC today.

George Soros is paying all of those people to not come here.

'Buy cheap and sell dear' is the Law and the Prophets in your system. Buying only American will eventually just cause world slump.

"nobody could have known that"

If only Trump had talked to somebody for ten minutes first. Maybe over some really excellent cake (seriously, it's just spectacular and we should all try it).

Tourism has dropped significantly since he took office,
I wonder how much of that is from 'buy American' and how much from tourists telling horror stories of being detained at the airport for not good goddamned reason except it helps us meet our paranoia quota for the week.

Well, zero of it has to do with "Buy American". That's unrelated to the tourism thing.

It's obvious that it's 100% due to muslim ban. Tourists just don't want to risk being turned back for no reason

Except that the drop in tourism isn't only amongst muslims and I don't know that the numbers show that they're even a significant percentage of the drop. There is a factor that those potentially affected by this don't want to risk being turned back so they book their holidays elsewhere, but there's also a large movement of people saying "I don't want to give my money to the US". I know a large number of people here in Canada and also in Britain who simply don't want to give America any revenue so they're going somewhere else. They're at no risk of getting turned away, but they're voting with their wallets to say that they don't support what America represents, so they're going to do what they can to help not support America.

I've read about that too--people not wanting to give the U.S. their money. There's also the very real aspect of detention though, and that's what would scare me off. If I were planning a trip, say to Japan, and then read that the Japanese were detaining people at airports for up to days at a time, I just wouldn't go there, no matter how slight the risk.

Yea that's also a big factor.

I have quite a bit of family in the UK, who irrationally or not, have this weird thing about the U.S. and Americans. Trump is most definitely not helping that cause, and I'd imagine similar attitudes are widespread across Europe.

This petty attitude of the rest of the world only proves Trump is right to hate those dirty foreigners.
