Anyone using the Microsoft "Edge" browser?

Asking because I requested something from our developer: wanted people (mostly gov agencies) to be able to download a cart view from our website as a pdf. This is for people browsing our site, and needing to bring a prospective buy to their purchasing agent for funding approval. The developer made it work right away with Chrome, Firefox etc., but so far, cannot make it work with IE or Edge. Most government personnel are forbidden to add any software to their systems, so they're stuck using whatever default MS browser is on their machine. That kinda defeats the purpose. So I was wondering if anyone here has any ideas about what's keeping it from working with MS browsers... I know that IE is supposedly on its way out, but we would REALLY like this functionality at least with Edge.

MS browsers left a sour taste in my mouth so I avoid them all together at this point. Hard to imagine that not being the case for most.

Well, I'm not really immersed in the world of web programming, but I do know Microsoft browsers were notorious for not fully supporting open media standards. A quick look at some stats seems to indicate that it is no longer abysmally behind Chrome and Firefox. I'm sure the devil is in the details, though.

Edge supports native PDF rendering (http://mashable.com/2015/05/11/microsoft-edge-security/). Another significant change (and the one you are experiencing with your support question) is Edge does not support ActiveX or Browser Helper Objects (BHO). Adobe Reader & Acrobat requires ActiveX to work so Edge has problems using Adobe Reader to open PDFs.

Adobe's instructions are to use IE11 to open PDFs. (https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/display-pdf-in-browser.html).

It seems that some people on the customer side have to play some mickey mouse games to control who does what to a PDF file between MicroSlop and Adobe. Even with "controlled" PC's, IE11 should still be accessible, for at least a while longer.

Although I imagine, your developer did the same thing I did and google for the answer, so he would have found the same solution....
